Calgary 05. Highlights for me, in no order bc I'm not looking at the list of songs just going on memory of my favs on this one.... Oceans to open. (I keep unintentionally selecting boots that open with oceans and i really love it). Whipping, red mosquito, MFC, Alone. beautiful thumbing my way. Always love sleight of hand. Beautiful hard to imagine. Betterman with I wanna be your boyfriend tag. Eddie was sad about hurricane Katrina and commented a couple times about it. Made me remember the terrible storm and the disgraceful way it was handled at the time

I've listened to this boot a couple times, but it just never truly resonated with me. But something different this time, just kind of connected this time around. Obivously an epic PJ show and I just wish the boot did the show and the crowd more justice. Just sounds kind of hollow at times and the energy of this wasn't truly captured on the boot. Still is a must-have boot in my opinion. Still is on my bucket list to see the guys do work at MSG in person!

Took me a listen or two as well. That boot audio isn't mixed worth shit, but still a great boot. I kinda feel that way towards Boston 2010. Technically I know it's a good show with a stellar set, but I've never been able to "connect" with it. Maybe it's the flow of the setlist?

Very good show this, probably an even better mainset than the two MSG shows. Only criticism is not enough Riot Act on the tour that is supposed to be promoting it and six covers during the encores is a bit much. Especially when one is my pet hate Baba O Riley. I would love to hear Driven To Tears though! Highlights *

Not an overly huge fan of the set list - but the boot is great and sounds fantastic. Highlights are a great opening Long Road, Faithfull early on in the set followed by NAIS with Ed announcing to the crowd before they start the song, "Not to give the plot away, but Mike McCready does some crazy shit on this next one." Good Off He Goes in the middle of the main set and very good It's OK tag on Daughter. Always love seeing Down make the set list too. The 'Man" trilogy to start the first encore with powerful performances of Black and RVM to close out the first encore. Beautiful Chloe Dancer/Crown Of Thorns to start the second encore and of course the 13 minute RITFW with Uncle Neil to close out the show.

Definitely always about flow of the set list (outside of performance, sound quality, mixing, etc), I agree, espeicially on Boston 2010. Obviously a great show and a good boot, but just don't think the set list flows that great which brings the boot down a couple of notches in my book and I know a lot of people make a big deal about that boot. To me, what sets the mood and what I look for most is the flow of the opening 3-5 songs and their performance. Rightly or wrongly, I put a lot of attention on those opening 3-5 songs in a boot and what interests me the most. I always enjoy seeing what first 5 or so songs Ed chooses for each show to set the table for that show specifically, and what he's feeling for the show and crowd itself, location, venue, etc.....is why I love this band so fucking much and love how seriously the band, especially Ed, treat the set lists and how unique they are. Is a big reason that makes them the best live band on earth.

You and I tend to agree on many aspects of judging live performances. Your point about putting greater emphasis in the first 5 songs or so on a setlist is a tendency of mine as well. The tone of a show is generally cast in those first 5-7 songs. The overall performance has to usually be judged as a whole though. But, nice to know I'm not alone on the flow of Boston. I just feel other shows are overlooked far too often because of what looks good on paper. Take a chance people, listen to boots outside of your preference for rarities. You're missing out on a lot! Even setlist flow is hard to judge on paper. One really has to hear a boot to judge.
Ed's ability to craft a set based on crowd and location is amazing. There are shows where I look and think, why the hell would Ed pick small town as a opener, such as Copenhagen and Missoula from last year. Listening and letting those shows sink in, that song really works well as an opener to set the tone of what was to come.

Damn fine show/bootleg. That opening 4 songs just kills, great way to start a show. Australian 09 was miles better than most of the us shows. Ed sounds better, tighter playing, and the boots are mixed much better as well.

That was an awesome show! I was there, and Ed seemed to be having a great time-the crowd was really into it!
I haven't been to that many shows, but of the ones I have attended, that one was my favorite!

I don't know why that leg of the tour never gets mentioned much but Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane were all great shows. Melbourne is one of my favourites for sound and setlist. I think they play 7 songs from Ten and all really tight versions. Sydney was only let down by Ed getting sick but it's still a pretty good show. Both NZ shows were very solid too. Going to take inspiration from this and listen to that whole tour starting today...

And any show that includes "Force of Nature" rates high in my book!!

Sounds like a good plan! Im like you, all 2009 I hear about is the 4 Phillys and LA 3 and 4. Most, if not all, of the of the Australian tour was better than those shows.
