And the WWE has been predictable in the past. Especially in the Royal Rumble. And fans were cheering Roman not that long ago. And having Bryant, Ziggler, Rusev, and Reigns be the final 4 would have been predictable. But the good predictable.

John Cena won't turn heel. Although he started as a heel. But he's been hated on for over a decade now and won't turn.

I remember him starting as heel. with his hilarious raps about his opponent. but yeah, it's not the right time to turn him heel. hogan turning heel when he did was pure genius; they had enough other faces to carry that load. I don't know if that could be done again successfully.

Doesn't now seem like the right time for Cena? Besides Rollins, there really isn't a top heel out there. Kane and Big Show don't count.

but you need a major star as a face more than you need a major star as a heel. you have no face, then you have no real draw. HHH was a huge draw as a heel, but only when he had a legit face to go up against. nobody cared about HHH vs Test. they cared about HHH vs the rock/austin/michaels/taker.

Bryant could have been. CM Punk was. Brock if he wasn't a part timer could be a big face. Especially if they have him beat Rusev.

Is Bryan not a major star as a face? Bryan is probably the most over and popular guy since Austin.

Ever since ECW, then the NWO, then DX and Austn. It's hard to have a good heel. Because then people start to like them. Fans turn them face.

Yeah, that looked pretty cool. Unfortunately, the best part about WWE network is all of the behind the scenes stuff and documentaries. And a lot of the old stuff from the 90s and early 2000s is good to watch as well. Recent PPVS?? Not so much.

is he? I don't know. I haven't watched in about 5 years. if he's such a big star, why did he get eliminated from the RR with such little fanfare? they would never have done that to Austin or the Rock or Michaels or Hogan. that's something they'd do (and did) to the Warlord. LOL.

and that's when they get HUGE. Austin. Michaels. HHH. Undertaker. that's the best, when they have the flexibility to run a program with the heelface against ANYONE, not just the opposite. Austin got cheered whether he stunned Jim Ross or Vince McMahon.

Rumors have Daniel Bryan vs Dolph Ziggler at Wrestlemania XXI. That would be an aweesome match like Steamboat/Savage or Bret Hart/HBK. Now if it was for a title that owuld make it even better but still would be a great match. Here's who i think will wrestle at WM XXI (most of these are pretty obvious, lol):

    Daniel Bryan vs Dolph Ziggler
    Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns
    Triple H vs Sting
Undertaker vs Bray Wyatt (I don't think the Undertaker should wrestle, we'll see)
The Uso's vs Cesaro and Tyson Kidd
    John Cena vs Rusev
    Gold Dust vs Star Dust
Seth Rollins vs Dean Ambrose (Hell in a cell match)
    New Day vs The Ascension
    The Miz vs Damien Mizdow
    Andre The Giant Battle Royal
    some kind of diva's match.

I think those examples are much more organic than what happens now. That's something that's not possible any more. People want what they want right now. No time to have an interesting build any more.

When Austin had his big face turn he was facing Bret Hart, who was trending strongly towards heel. People liked his attitude and and then he started doing face stuff. Maybe doing heelish stuff, but doing it for a face-y type result. Nobody blurred the edges of heel/face better than the Rock and Austin, but you could still break their careers down to the different heel/face periods.

The DX and NWO examples....there were big moments where the writing put the face turns in for some of the members and I remember them still getting mostly heel heat when they were doing heel stunts.
