    The Alice springs chicken actually became extinct in 1989 due to crocs, over hunting by the local aborigines and a rare form of chicken cancer exclusively found in the Alice springs chicken. It was really very tragic as the Alice springs chicken was our national bird and was kind of a huge icon.
    But you can still find it on the Outback Steakhouse menu - it DOES exist! :mrgreen:

    Wow. I never noticed Alice Springs Chicken on the menu (or any chicken - it's a steakhouse, right?). Sad story about the extinction. I haven't ordered chicken in a restaurant since... um, unless Popeye's counts as a restaurant...oh yeah I got fried chicken at Jones last year - that was good.
