Todd Gak gave Jerry the cigars.  Not sure if these count for the question, but:
    1) Elaine is smoking a cigar when she calls Jerry to tell him he is the doofus, not Kramer, to which Jerry tells her she should go see Kramer at his karate class.
    2) Kramer is selling his cigar store Indian to Lippman, and pitches the idea of the coffee table book, which isn't negative per se, except for Elaine.
    3) An extra one for good measure: Jerry is smoking a cigar and laughing when Elaine is paying him for continually seeing Puddy.

In "The Calzone," Jerry thinks he's getting Cuban cigars but instead gets a "producto de Peru" (Jerry, upon smoking one, says "its like trying to smoke a chicken bone.").

Name at least two other negative situations involving a cigar that happen on the show.

Bonus: who gave Jerry the Peruvian cigars?

    Go!
The other negative cigar situations are Kramer burning down Susan's father's cabin with one, and Kramer setting his hair on fire with one.

Todd Gak gave Jerry the Peruvian cigars.

Similarly, in Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, Neal Brennon tells Jerry, "I didn't really watch your show too often, but whenever I did, it always seemed like you guys were doing something related to a jacket. You lost a jacket, or you had to find a jacket......"

I laughed so hard when he said this. I never noticed it, but yes, there are a lot of jacket-related plot devices.

-Kramer's jacket in early seasons that he ends up trading for, wait for it, cigars.
    -Jerry's Friars Club jacket
-Jerry buys a jacket and returns it for spite
-Jerry's expensive jacket with the pink lining

Another often used trope is "weirdos that want to be friends with Jerry"
-His childhood friend Joel Hornick in "Male Unbonding"
    -Kenny Bania
-The comic in "The Movie" that wants to store something (can't remember what, probably a jacket lol) in Jerry's closet
    -Ramon the pool guy

This is even more hilarious to me because my roommate in college had the exact jacket about 6 years before it was on Seinfeld We knew we were in for a good night at the bars when he’d break it out.

One question pending still, but here’s another:

In “The Fatigues” episode, name all the mentor/protégé relationships. (Watching the episode, this sounded like a familiar question, so maybe I asked it before).

Name at least three other names who are used by any character in the same fashion.

    Go!
Kevin does it playfully with "Vargas".  The rest of these are guesses:

    Jerry does it with "Pennypecker!"

    Elaine does it with "George!"

George does it with "Newman!" and "Jerry!"
Also, second episode with Mulva, Jerry goes “Mulva!”

In the Finale clip show, there's a little segment that goes through a couple of these. The 1:15 mark of this video....

they stole that Greatest American Hero answering machine outgoing message from me. lol. I used to make funny outgoing messages all the time (people would call me and get disappointed when I answered-they wanted to hear my message). This was a popular one. When this episode aired a few years after I did it, my buddy and I looked at each other in disbelief. the lyrics are actually pretty close the same.

Whenever foiled by his mailman nemesis, Jerry delivers a trademark cursing of his name, clenching his fist and exclaiming “Newman!”

One question pending still, but here’s another:

In “The Fatigues” episode, name all the mentor/protégé relationships. (Watching the episode, this sounded like a familiar question, so maybe I asked it before).
    -Jerry’s girlfriend and her mentor
-George then becomes Jerry’s GF’s mentor
    -Jerry mentors Bania
-Wilhelm notes at the end that George is his protege
Elaine also mentors Eddie from the mailroom.  “You and your demented protege!”

In the “Andrea Doria,” Jerry delivers mail for Newman in an effort to help him get his transfer to Hawaii.

Name at least two other fake jobs that a character holds during the show.

You know what Kramer did for Brandt Leland?  TCB.

George as an architect and a latex salesman are good ones.

    Kramer did movie phone.

Jerry acted as a doorman for Larry Miller's character.

Mr. Pitt mistook Jerry for a pharmacist, not sure if that counts.
