Thanks for input... original releases prob will wait awhile. Seen some on eEbay and the prices were pretty high for a newbe like myself. Not saying its not worth it (ten club please note) :D but i got to get myself a player soon and some concert tickets next week. Buying a player, what a chore this is... everything is technique sl1200 $$$ .... looking at Pro-Ject turntables and audiotechnica. Project higher end $300+ and AT lower $100+. Excellent reviews on both are good.

I know ass backwards but I figure I get the lps before they sell out and im stuck without anything.

    Cheers!

I understand if you are new to vinyl and want these 2 amazing albums on the black circle but despite what some might say these new pressing are considerably different to the original pressings and if you interested in hearing these at their finest these new pressings are not going to give you that.

I'm still flabbergasted to think that the band or whoever thinks this is an improvement on the original versions, I haven't heard the new CD remasters so can't comment on them but if they are anything to go by the vinyl I'd stay away.

Is this really the band that proclaimmed that CD's are like bad acid, not to be consumed and proclaimed we spin the black circle? Seriously PJ if your heart is still in the format like it was back in 1994 then please over see these release with more consideration for your fans instead of just banging out these sub standard releases.

I have a copy of each album now which are likely to remain pristine as I have no desire to play them when the originals quite frankly blow them off the turntable! I played them both to a friend of mine a fellow Jammer and he has no real interest in vinyl but he couldn't but notice the difference and now he's questioning purchasing the CD versions.

Take note from Jack White and Third Man, the recent reissues of the first 3 White Stripes weren't just as good as the original releases they were far superior and the audiphile tag was rightly earned. Such marvelous albums as Vs & Vitalogy deserve more than the treatment they have received here and no you don't need to be no Engineer Dweeb to hear this just simply listen to both versions back to back and you'll see.

I've written to Ten club regarding this and yes requested my money back, so far I've heard nothing but I will be now very wary purchasing any other of these reissues, likely I'll stick with my originals if the same kind of incompetence will be employed for No Code, Yield, Binaural & Riot Act.

EXCELLENT post. This is the reason I have stayed away from the reissues and instead ponied up the cash for sealed copies on the bay of both Vs and Vitalogy. Both original LPs sound absolutely freaking AMAZING. Now, i am on a quest for Yield, Binaural, and Riot Act to complete my PJ vinyl collection....

Unfortunately, many bands reissue albums on vinyl these days because of the vinyl resurgence. It is a money grab. Its unfortunate but often times they reissue vinyl sourced from the highly compressed, dynamically challenged DIGITAL re-master. Sad but true. Thus, the AAA analog original pressing smokes the new pressing. A missed opportunity.

Thanks! your dead right, as I said Jack White knows how to release his material on vinyl and totally embraces the proper ananlogue process that makes them sound so superior to the CD.

PJ proclaimed back in 94 to be real champions of the format and delivered a cracking pressing of Vitalogy, why they couldn't properly re release this with the same care and attention just shows as you said that allot of bands just bang out their vinyl with nasty digital masters. Just look at the 30th Anniversay edition of Darkside Of The Moon, now that's the way to do it, now reputedly the finest version of the album I can't see the new forthcoming vinyl reissue of it being any better.

Sorry PJ but you really dropped the ball with this one big time!

If there are any Aussies out there who are still thinking of ordering the box set then I recommend ordering it through the Ten Club and not through the Myplaydirect site. It's much cheaper through the Ten Club, is well packaged and only took 3 weeks to arrive to me.
