Looking forward to getting mine on Tuesday at Best Buy... no need for the ones with the shirts, I have plenty of PJ shirts and am sure that they'll be Large or XL and that's bit too big for myself!

Did anybody who ordered through 10c get shipping emails yet?

Unless the PJ20 keychain has already arrived and is shipping, I believe the shipping notice I got this morning was for the SDE. Hope so!!!

Now after checking the order number, it is the keychain. Oh well. Can still hope for timely arrival

Impressions from the Super Deluxe Sound....

I am using a Pro-Ject Debut III with a few upgrades. Acrylit-it platter, Ortofon 2M Red and Pro-Ject SpeedBox II. I use a crap Yamaha Receiver RX-V665 on bi-amp with Acoustic Research cables going to my Monitor Audio BX5.
(Sorry to the people that don't care about Hi-Fi)

I warmed it up with the Orpheum Theater Vinyl. It sounds OK. I don't like live vinyls. Don't know why. There is something wrong with me? Maybe. I just don't like it. Gear warmed up.

I have the original Brazil print of Vs. 237.029/1-474549 released by Sony Epic on 1993 and placed it agains't the Reissued Vs. from Sony Legacy 88697843131-jkl. First of all, both sound great. But they are not the same, that's for sure. Differences:

1 - HI JEFF. NICE TO FINALLY HEAR YOU CLEARLY. HAHAHAHA The bottom end on the remaster is more accurate and punchy. Very controlled. SWEET.

2 - The highs are not so in your face. The highs on the old pressing has so much bite that sometimes it sounds unnatural. On the remaster they find are defined and fast. Really nice.

3- Much better sound stage, lots of space between the instruments on each layer. You can really separate you hearing. If you want to use it to learn each song, you can. You can select a musician an pay attention only to his playing. The Epic old pressing sounds more messy and confused.

Again they are not miles way from each other. Bare in mind my brazilian Epic pressing is just tired, overplayed, a little dirty (no clicks and pops)... HAHAHAHA but they don't sound like the same master at all.
I have records with pressing from Brazil and US. No reissues, no remasters. Same age, different country and they don't sound the same. Therefore I am not sure Sony sends the same master all of the world. Maybe the vinyl used on Brazil for pressing in 93 was a not high qaulity. I don't know.

Would love to hear impressions from someone that have the original US 93 Vs. put agains't the reissue.

Bottom line I am HAPPY. Sounds great, great, great.

Little bad stuff: The making of the jackets are not the best. Looks like they rushed thru the production line. Not very well glued, not very well folded. (But hey, I don't really care, I am all about the sound it makes.) Although the records did not came dead flat. My tone arm is dancing on all of them.

    Cheers.

Thank you for this review! I neither have Vs. nor Vitalogy on vinyl and thought about getting older copies, but now I'm quite sure I'll be going for the re-issues :D (they are more affordable also ... strangely enough)

This is what I was NOT wanting to see in my inbox:

I contacted Sony re: my non-US order of the box set as I have not received the shipping email and as I have been seeing some of these already go out to non-US locations. This is what they told me:

"I am sorry to inform you that your order seems to be stuck in our system. I have forwarded the issue to the concerned department for a review. Unfortunately, while my goal is to answer every question promptly, I will need to escalate your concern for additional information. This will delay my ability to respond. I will get back to you as quickly as I can."

I checked back to my credit card statement and noticed that they have not charged me for the order - strange as I did get the order confirmation and an order number. I suspect this is what they mean by "stuck in the system". Has anyone had a similar issue? How did you resolve it? I would reorder again if they can assure me I won't get charged twice but either way this is now looking like I WON'T be getting this "on or before 29/3".   :? :?:cry:

They charge when they ship not before unless you use pay pall.

Collectors won't care for reissues. It's nice there are some differences between reissues and original pressings. Collectors with old gear will get the "original" sounds people had back in 93.

Original pressings cost way more because they are really hard to find either sealed or in good conditions.

I am all about sound, not so much of a collector. It's really a matter of taste. Do you prefer Ales or Laggers? Cotton or Silk? Nobody hears the same sound like the next person.

If you only care about sound like me and is not looking for a "vintage" experience... go for the reissues.
If you want the real deal from back the day (the time travel thing) ... save the cash for the originals and good hunting.

In my opinion they are fantastic. Same league as the Vs. and Vitalogy I have in my hands now.

The copy of the original Ten I have is in a VERY BAD condition. It would have to get really better to be considered horrible. HAHAHAHAHAHA So I can't put it up against the reissue. Not fair.

Always remember, people hear differently. This is MY OPINION, based on my gear, my room and my ears. You might have a totally different experience.

For example, as silly as it sounds, my hearing changes from a day to another. Depends on a lot of stuff. My best hearing experience is with very easy temperature environment, just showered and very little light around me. HAHAHAHA for me it's like I am on the other side of the glass in a studio and PJ is right there playing.

Call me crazy, but I love it. ;)

Ok well that's a relief but the plot thickens also as it means it's not a credit card issue - will update once I hear back from Sony.

To the other posted - no I don't live in Europe but here's hoping your order got through without any issues.

    Sucks to be us...
  • Not had the e-mail yet. Pre-ordered back in early Feb.

Confirmation e-mail received at the time said it would ship 'on or before 29 March'.

    Fingers crossed.

Just got the same reply... 2 mins ago... Oh well...
I've not been charged for the full amount yet... They charged me for 1 Euro when I placed the order a couple of months ago... My Play Direct from the United Kingdom... If this is coming from Royal Mail, it may be a while

I feel your pain. I want to reserve my judgement on the situation until Sony comes back with a more solid explanation of what's going on but suffice to say it seems this isn't an isolated incident affecting me only. I don't mind the waiting but if I am told I'd get it on day x, I kinda would like to see that happen.

For what it's worth I didn't experience the same issue with the Tex box that 10C shipped - so in defense of 10C, they were more on top of it than what Son'y appears to be, in my experience.
