Only ever saw them once. 1996. They were quite a different band back then. They were good but it was an outdoor venue and their sound would have been more suited to a small indoor venue. Whenever I see them on youtube etc now they seem to have a bigger sound with 2 more members. They have become a stadium rock band.

Gotta say, don't know if it was the Foos' or the 9:30 Club's process, but the Vax check for the Foo Fighters Thurs night at DC's 9:30 Club (only 1200 capacity hometown show!) was excellent. That was my 5th show since July, 3 others were outdoors (which I'm totally comfy with although still wear a mask if I can't really distance myself), and the 1 indoors (The Roots, amazing) was a theater that was only 1/2 sold and you could spread out, plus the ushers were Mask Police, super strict, so that made that feel safe too.
But the 9:30 Club was GA, obviously sold out, so you walked up and 1st had to go to vax check, where they looked at your screenshot of your card AND your i.d. at same time to match the face, name and birthday. They gave you a wristband, and only then could you go to different table to get your ticket. Then you had to go RIGHT into venue, no leaving the lane to go in or you'd have to repeat process again. No in and out once in. So no selling your ticket and you had to have wristband and ticket to go in. Better/tighter than any other process I've seen so far...
Somehow I found a place to stand where I could see whole stage perfectly (I'm short so that's hard) AND there was space (we were on a staircase between 1st & 2nd balcony and other than people passing by there was way more space than I expected all around me). And most people (not everyone) but most people were great about masks.
I don't know how those on the floor did it, I went down to buy a Dee Gees t-shirt and I was like "Oh HELL no, I can't do sold out GA floor yet, vaxxed or not. Toooo crowded!" But I did get my shirt
And the show? I suppose it was ok..... No, shit, I gotta give it to them, the setlist was the same songs as most shows so far on this tour (but we got Weenie Beenie as an add and the story and song were fucking GREAT!), but the ENERGY was insane, definitley in the audience but also onstage too. I've seen the Foos many times over the years (including on the Mike Watt tour with Eddie opening on drums for Hovercraft), and this show.... yeah, this was more epic-ly epic than most Foos sets are.
The release of 18 months of tension and mania and frustration and confusion and not getting live music and JOY was TANGIBLE in the air! probably how those at Madison Sq Garden Foos show felt, except there was the added pressure cooker of onlly 1200 people in a small cub!
Grateful. Super grateful. And hope others replicate their vax check process.
that's how the vaxx check is here for Blue Bomber games (CFL football team). everyone is in line to get their bags checked then their tickets checked anyway, so they have the vaxx check about 10 people further up the line, so there's no extra waiting. it's seamless, especially for 33,000 people.

I had a great time in Coney Island last night. The venue was small so my view was much closer than at the Garden. Dave has such positive energy. The crowd was great as well. It made me even more excited for SHN this weekend!!

You guys got "Charlie RIP" on the bass drum... we got a giant pic of Barry Gibb. All very "on brand" for the Foos
When I saw them at MSG in June, the photo of Barry Gibb was on the bass drum. But of course at that time Charlie Watts was still alive.
Yeah but I just saw them this past Thurs, after Charlie Watts had passed. Barry Gibb on the drum. So I guess they switch it out as it feels right to them.

They played the VMA awards the night before I saw them and had the RIP Charlie drums on that. So maybe they just decided to use the same ones for this show as well. Who knows.
Anyone going to one of Dave Grohl's Storyteller shows. I got a ticket for the NYC show. His new book is included with the ticket. I think it will be interesting. He seems like he would be a good storyteller.

saw that and I'd love to go (but, you know, living in winnipeg has its disadvantages lol). Seems like forever ago I pre-ordered his book. can't believe it's almost here.

I am looking forward to it. It sold out pretty quickly. I was lucky to get an orchestra seat. When I first logged on to Ticketmaster all that was coming up was balcony seats - and I kept getting that damn message that someone else beat me to them. I just kept refreshing the page. Out of nowhere a center orchestra seat showed up. Somehow, I got it. I hope he does a book signing after like Mike McCready did for the Polaroids book. It would be cool to have a signed copy.

Going to one of the LA shows. Purposely held out on pre-ordering the book in hopes that he’d do a signing or an event like this. Looking forward to it!

That group of people is really one of the worst. Those are the fuckers that go to the funerals of soldiers and do that shit.
