Very early on this day in 1998, I was on my way home from a late night casino trip and stopped at a Meijer's around 3-4am and picked it up to try and help myself get through the rest of the drive. I wasn't expecting much- didn't love No Code at the time... but, man, halfway through Faithfull I just KNEW this was something special. I went from the dangers of falling asleep at the wheel to taking a longer way home to hear more.
So you’re saying you took the long way… on the freeway?
Personally, I always take the long way (the long way!).

Interesting. I remember buying No Code the day it came out and at the time also wasn’t impressed (today it’s in my top 2 PJ albums). When Yield came out I wasn’t a fan of the do the evolution video so that’s my only memory of the album for a long time and I didn’t even circle back to Yield for probably 7-8 years as I just sort of moved on from PJ after that. I can’t even remember when the first time I actually heard it but clearly I must have loved it.
Probably in the minority but in retrospect the No Code, Yield, Binaural, Riot Act 6 year period to me represents PJ at their peak
I could listen to the Vitalogy-No Code-Yield trilogy all day long. Yield - great album. Beautifully recorded, great rock songs, brilliantly sung, lots of different influences and song writing perspectives. I wasn’t sure about other members of the band writing lyrics at the time. Because up until that point Ed was the lyricist. How silly was I to think that!?
I'm getting conflicting feelings that would put my username in jeopardy....Vitalogy has been back and forth with Yield for me as of late for my #1

I remember being stationed at Fort Polk LA and seeing the commercials for the album coming out during WWF Monday Night Raw. I drove from Ft Polk to Alexandria which is about 45 min to buy Yield. Defiantly in my top five of PJ albums.
Remember the commercial they aired of the car speeding across the desert highway with "GTF" playing in the background?
I had no idea that a new pearl Jam album was coming out....and I was up late watching tv and I saw that commercial. It was amazing, couldn't wait to get the new album. That commercial was gorgeous.
As much as I think I know about this band I don't ever remember seeing this commercial or even knew it existed. Very, very cool commercial about the absolute masterpiece that is Yield. My favorite song maybe Who You Are, but my favorite album is no doubt Yield.
