Eddie in Rolling Stone

  • Eh, you forget that RS seemed pretty delighted to feature a cover of Nirvana with Kurt Cobain wearing a "Corporate Magazines Still Suck" shirt.

Eddie wiping his butt with a RS cover probably made them all warm inside.

As exciting as that picture is, I found it more exciting that he said "I am going to do some shows" (referring to 2008 election year)

Yeah, i'm with the post just above, shows next year sounds great, a lot better than splitting up next year - I'msure a tongue in cheek comment and not one to be taken with anything other than a pinch of salt. Hence the smiles annex.

    No shame whatsoever.

He did an interview. they wanted a picture of him for the cover. He told them it should be the whole band not just me. They put an old file pic of him playing on the cover. He got mad...understandably.

Jesus, you people hold onto isolated facts so closely. Let some light and reality in.
We're still making records for people who listen to it all the way through, eyes closed, in that space.

  • I literally have no money to buy this special issue now, so I spent some extra time at the bookstore to read select Q&A's of this issue. Eddie's of course, was very nice, but I also enjoyed George Clooney's, Chris Rock, Jane Goodall's etc,. I learned a lot from these interesting people and I think this RS issue is very well done.

It's all about selling magazines, eh? Looks like Eddie is a willing participant when it serves his needs. Everyone is looking out for their own interest...survival instincts. Bad press sells magazines more effectively than good press. In the end, RS, EV and PJ do what they want for their own reasons.

I like what he said about speaking his mind at shows.
I feel the same way. My sister always insults me when I talk about politics. But, hey, politics is life.
I often think, would I want to listen to him if he was a rightist?
I don't think I want to answer that.

like the prophecy of tickets going up...oh wait that is reality!

Oh well the cheap tix were good while they lasted. Thanks for doing it up to now.

I thought it was a nice read.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Are you 18? They stared a "lovefest" with pearljam in 93. And PJ were the ones that pulled back, not Rolling Stone. Listen to the lyrics to Blood. They have been ripping magazines for years. You think it's rolling stone that is the reason you have seen a little more of Ed lately, but it is Ed that is using the magazine to push his views. He is allowing himself to be seen a little more.

wow dude, i'm just gonna leave you and your attitude alone. but thanks for the laugh.

Who did he quote when he said "It was a great show but we still had to listen to 2 minutes of Eddie Vedder's political bullshit... we could have heard another B side."

Is that from someone's post on this board? haha
Whoa, chill bro... you know you can't raise your voice like that when the lion's here.

Glad to see you know when you are wrong. Now if you could only do the stand up thing and admit it. I'm happy that you find reality funny though.

Definitly was, word for word. Not me of course. I love to hear Ed's chit chat!

i did a little search, and found this thread. don't know if this is the one ed was referring to, but some of the posts sound very similar to the quote. although i think the starter of this thread just wanted to cause some trouble by being ironic... ;-)

  • I don't think there's any question that the only thing that really makes Ed relevant to Rolling Stone and its readership is his vocal criticism of the Administration and the war.

I don't mean this as a criticism. It's just a fact. Ed and Pearl Jam don't play the kind of popular music that warrants Rolling Stone coverage anymore. For that, I am grateful. I wouldn't want them collaborating with Fergie.

But anyone who thinks their recent run of Rolling Stone coverage isn't tied to the political agenda of both the band and the magazine is deluding themselves. Again, not a criticism. Just an observation.

if your a liberal you're a-ok with jann. this magazine basically pissed all over pearl jam until eddie started speaking out at the concerts. since then it's been a lovefest. which is why rolling stone sucks, they serve their own agenda.

I totally know what you mean about Jann loving liberals, but come on, Eddie's been speaking out from the get go. He's maybe spoken out more since Bush has been in office but that's only because there's so much to be angry about.
