  • What the hell is going on here?

Pearl Jam's Unplugged sucked balls, but they more than made up for it with all their acoustic shows throughout the years (benaroya, boston III etc...)

Nirvana's unplugged was something special, the music was great and there was just a mood that went straight through you...

AIC's unplugged, the music was amazing, but Layne staley was pretty much dying on stage...Very sad to see.

So, out of those three, I'm going to have to choose Nirvana. But Clapton would definitely beat them, because he's clapton. (btw, who the hell doesn't know who Eric Clapton is?)
When this just feels like spinning plates.

    nah
Nirvana sounds better when they are plugged in.
Its a good record, but I like the electric distorted angry nirvana MUCH better.
Same is true for most of the artists that have appeared on that show IMHO.

    Alice In Chains.
  • i think its a highly important album and event in music history. i cant help but wonder what the fans thought as they saw and heard About a Girl. It must have been shocking, even as they (fans) in studio were obviously aware this wasnt going to be a show where they would play Teen Spirit in its full guitar/and yelling fury. I think this album may be the ultimate statement Nirvana made. Yes Nevermind is more historically important, but this to me was a different thing.

the show was hugely influential and made the unplugged show a household name. the nirvana performance is the single reason why we still talk about unplugged today. as great as the PJ one, or clapton, or whoever was, it was nirvana that created the magnum opus on it.

finally, the show i think turned alot of kids onto leadbelly, bowie, and the brothers meat.
there were rumors of kurt bringing ed or neil on stage, as guests of the show, but using the meat puppets, and playing their songs, it all seems so perfect now, no other guest stars, no matter how big, would have topped what they did, and what they recorded.
