Spouse, significant other, family, friends...whatever. What did everyone get for gifts this year?

    For my lady:

    - some lotions and soaps
    - couple pair of earrings
    - some candles
    - chocolates, nuts and a nutcracker, a mini whisk, and cool bottle stopper
    - a french press
    - a set of mexican bubble glass drinking glasses
    - one of those measuring cups that is a sliding cylinder...pretty cool, and she had been talking about it for a while.
    - Flowerbomb perfume ($$$)
    - A jar with 365 slips of paper, one for each day with a reason why I love her. (You've gotta have that cheesy shit.)

Still need a few more stocking stuffers... :?

    So, what'd ya get 'em?

I'm sorry but this is a list of the most cliche gifts I have ever seen. These are the gifts you get people when you don't know them very well, except for the french press which is an awesome gift.
Seriously, I don't mean this to sound rude, but if my husband gave me these default gifts and I got him a new record player (which I did) I would seriously start wondering if he knew me at all. There's gotta be something your lady wants and I'm thinking its definitely not a fucking lotion and soap set.
    Well...

At least you didnt mean to sound rude.......

I'm pretty sure I got a similar reaction last year. Won't be surprised if it's the same poster.

Thanks for the tip. However, all of these were expressed as being wanted. I hope you're satisfied with what you get this year.

No, this is the first time I've responded, so it's definitely not the same poster. I really did not mean this to be antagonistic, it's just my opinion. And, yes, I am sure I will be happy with what I get this year because my husband picks out thoughtful things (and pj goods) that I actually want and can use....there will be no fucking lotion and soap sets in this house.

and to answer the original question, I got my husband a new record player, Into the Wild on vinyl, 13 Floor Elevators on Vinyl, the new Vaselines CD, some t shirts that he wanted, a new distortion pedal and a vintage batman record case.

Well, in the spirit of x-mas, I forgive you... assuming that is you in the avatar. Wait, you said you were married. Nevermind, back to the coal list with you.

What is this 'French press' anyway? At first I thought you were referring to a sex move, but after a few posts, I maybe thinking of something else......

technically he's lazy and his 'gift' to me is taking me to the mall and I pick out 'whatever I want' (within reason)....and it always includes going to the 'lotion and soap store' <
see dc? SOME chicks will appreciate lotion and soap (ok, so it's the expensive french shit....but still lotion and soap)
and I get a free pass as I am unemployed.... ;)

Insulated mug with a wire mesh plunger used to make coffee. I take one on my backpacking trips. Very nice.

We're getting savings bonds for the nieces and nephews (theyre too young to appreciate the typical gift).

Other than that, we're not giving each other gifts this year. All of our cash is going towards food drives and the needy. And I can say it feels great to do it. Better than any other christmas.
