Ok, admit it...what songs do nothing for you...

1. 'Nothing as it seems' does 'nothing' for me and just 'seems' to go nowhere. It never really builds to anything.

2. 'Evacuation' is just God-awful. How many times can you just say the same word with different inflections in ONE song? E-vac-U-ation! EVAC-u-Ation! evac-u-ATION! EVACUATION! Just go already!!!

3. 'Don't gimme no lip'...seriously, don't!

4. 'Dead man' is another song that just goes nowhere fast. although, I will say the version on 'Benaroya' is tolerable.

    I hate:

    I'm open
    Stupid mop

I tolerate but am not excited about:

    Evacuation
    Ghost
    Mankind
    Don't Gimme no lip

    I love:

    *All the rest*

    My #1 favorite:

    In my tree, studio version.
Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river

Sick of but still like somewhat:
    Betterman
Even Flow (except I love hearing Mikes solo and new drum solo)

Songs I just never cared for but enjoy somewhat:
    Dissident
    Off He Goes
    Mankind
    Around The Bend

Songs I like but others seem to hate
    Evacuation
    All of Riot Act

but Whipping is one song that I have never cared for

Agree on Evacuation, but Nothing as it Seems really grew on me after a few years. I love the hi-hat in the first verse.

I've never been a big fan of Deep, Habit, or Help Help. But my least favorite Pearl Jam recording of all time is the studio version of DTE. I can't even listen to it, all that distortion on Ed's voice. So much better live.
*Does not include encore of Garden and Leash.

You just don't understand edgy rock do you? From Husker Du's New Day Rising to the Pixies Stormy Weather, now with Pearl Jam's coolest to the point punk blast Evacuation, I don't get get how people could dislike such great meoldies and rockin' music. DGNL is also genius for what it is not trying to do. Plus, they are fun and have cool riffs.

    1) Evacuation: I really, REALLY dislike this song. No, really.

    2) In the Moonlight: I would dislike it MORE than Evacuation, but I haven't had to sit through it in a live setting, so it takes second.

    3) Get Right: Liked it when I first heard it, but has become one of the few songs I'll skip over. Not a "bad" song, but it never really came off that great live, and the studio version is missing...something.

    4) Wasted Reprise: I just don't see the point in it.

    5) Army Reserve: Again, not a bad song, but it sounds a little too much like U2 to my ears, and the live version I could take it or leave it.

    6) Dissident: Although I'm sure there is some kind of unofficial rule that states a PJ fan must enjoy this song....I DON'T.....so get over it.

    7) Let Me Sleep: This one PUTS me to sleep.

    8) Angel: I've wanted to like this one since I first heard it, to no avail. I give up on it.

That's about it for me. Not too many songs, considering the bands total output of material. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if some uber-fan sees this and reads me the "Riot Act" about a "true" fan loves every note the band plays. (Please spare me)

Somehow, I feel like I just jinxed myself into hearing these songs on the upcoming tour. DAMN!

If I had to choose one off each studio album (not always easy):

    Ten: Deep

    Vs.: Blood

    Vitalogy: Stupid Mop

    No Code: Lukin

    Yield: Push Me, Pull Me

    Binaural: Grievance

Riot Act: probably Ghost, there's about 3 or 4 I don't like on this album, but I can't remember which ones for sure, as I haven't listened to it in 4 years.

Pearl Jam: No idea, I never bought the album.

Nothing As It Seems not only does nothing for me but it annoys me. That guitar thing by Mike in the beginning is really irritating for some reason. I guess because it doesn't seem like genuine blues. It's like he just did it to do it, I don't know how to describe it. His solo later on isn't as bad it's just that opening lick. Although the song gets better at the "It's nothing as it seems.." part.

I hate Off He Goes. Such a boring song. It also doesn't need to last nearly as long as it does.

    I hate Thumbing My Way.

Betterman has also lost it's magic for me. Overplayed. I don't know how Eddie doesn't get sick of playing it all the time.

I don't think the nature of the topic was 'what song are you tired of?' I have a hard time believing that none of you ever liked Betterman or Small Town, I think you are just tired of it, but that wasn't the question

    sign me up for that.

songs that don't do much for me:

    sweet lew - pure garbage.
thumbing my way - i think this song is supposed to be good, but it falls short and doesn't live up to itself.
inside job (studio version) - a noble effort, but it's got a little too much lyrical cheese for me. it isn't terrible, but it's not a favorite. however, played live, it rocks.

Define 'edgy rock'...I'm a HUGE punk and hardcore fan. I Love all sorts of music. I'll listen to Jaco Pastorius one minute, Minor Threat the next, and Joy Division the next. I just don't like these songs. I don't really care what they're trying to do or say, they just don't 'do' or 'say' anything to ME. And that's all that matters when it comes to music...
