So I missed out on 10c presale and I have now signed up to Chugg Entertainment website, how the hell do I log in?
I want to make sure my account is fine before Wednesdays presale.
Adelaide 17/11/2009, Melbourne 20/11/2009, Sydney 22/11/2009, Melbourne (Big Day Out Festival) 24/01/2014
no i just meant there were hundreds of kids in those record stores that night. i dunno how many signatures the petition got but i'm sure it was a lot. the guy who ran it worked hard to get it around.
Yeh that was me. I lurk on the boards, just dont post much these days.
We got a petition with a few thousand signatures in late 2002 for the Riot Act tour, but alas it wasnt to be. It came down to the fact that they wanted to play a seated indoor venue, and with no decent venue NZ was left off. This was post Rosklide, and the band wasnt doing GA.
We got a bit of media attention, the rock got behind it - had it in cd stores, got really good support. Our feeling was they could do a seated show at a venue like western springs if they wanted to - to avoid the GA, but it didnt work out.
We sent the petition off to the band, but didnt receive any acknowledgement or anything. They just didnt come. It was hard - A core group of us but 100s of hours in, spent some money, but nothing. Shit we even offered to buy one lucky person a double ticket to a NZ show if they came. Not good.
In November 2006 they had two dates booked at vector prior to the OZ shows. They even had accommodation booked, and some of the tour programmes mentioned Auckland/NZ. Vector was delayed, and the shows didnt happen.
Unfortunately I cant make Australia in March. We have a young baby and have recently bought a house. Having a baby changes things, I can assure you.
I wrote to the 10c about a possible NZ date for Ed's tour - shit he has to literally fly past us to get to Australia. I received the following "the booking agent and promoter have not added any NZ dates to this tour."
Who knows - maybe the demand will suprise them and they add some shows - maybe one in NZ on route - certainly a business case for it, but I dont have much hope.
Absolutely devastated Incommunicado on presale day.....
Will give the next lot of presales a go though!!
But, just in case -If anyone has spares to Brissie - please think of me!!
Nice to see you on here again Blackcat. How's northern NSW? Have you been getting plenty of rain there like we are on the Coast?
I'm sure you'll get tickets to Brissie. I was one of the lucky ones in the 10c presale yesterday and managed to get tickets for Brisbane 1 and Newcastle.
Why Hello there!! I am very jealous of you and your tickets!!
Yep -I think 6 years worth of prayers for rain have been answered over the past few months!! We are well above average for our annual rainfall - great for some, not so great for others......heaps of grain getting ruined due to wet weather, but irrigators are stoked!
Fingers crossed for Wednesday - I had the same trouble as one of the other posts with that Chugg thing - wouldn't let me log in?? Hopefully all goes well and hopefully my ticketeck registration has held up over these last few years!!
If I do end up with tickets I might have to have a bit more stamina this time and try to meet a few of the 10C!! Fingers crossed!!

Would be nice to have a Brisbane meet-up somewhere before the shows.
And by the way, in case you didn't know... general public tickets sales for the Brisbane shows are not through Ticketmaster or Ticketek, they're through http://www.qtix.com.au

Look, I feel for NZ fans, but for some reason Ed is overlooking NZ. It could be financial, which these decisions usually are - it is the promoters job to analyse what is the best financial outcome for the artist. If a schedule involving NZ takes cash away from the final profit, the promoter won't encourage it.
There are loads of examples. Bands with massive tour overheads and setups will skip low-attendance or small-venue cities because it's, literally, not worth it. Even if a whole tour is generating say $5m, if a show takes even $10,000 off the final intake the promoter won't do it. Their job is to make the most money for the artist and in turn themselves.
You can argue about "dignity" and "doing it for the fans" - one of the reasons I fell in love with this band - but those days are long gone. There are rare examples - eg. 1995 Adelaide show (after all costs were taken in to account they ended up making basically nothing) - but as we know, it's not 1995.
Ed isn't playing NZ or Perth not because he doesn't like the locations. He's not playing them because, at the moment, and for the times and dates Ed had available, it wasn't financially feasable and the promoter is just doing their job. Not saying I agree, but that's the most likely explanation.
In the end I hope Ed sees the petitions and plays both NZ and Perth.

See my genius idea in the other thread about checking with NZ promoters since Chugg doens't care.
Also I met you at the Tower Music midnight opening. You did good things. I remember that shit about Vector too but i thought that was in 2007?
If I recall correctly - I could be wrong - Vector was booked by PJ in late November 2006 (after Oz?) to be the "first artist to play there" etc. but it was all delayed. They couldn't be arsed changing the plans for a different venue so they ditched the idea altogether. The 2006 US Tour Leg 1 tour booklets had Auckland listed on the dates.
ahhh. makes more sense than my whacky illogical 2007.
you know what really fucks me off about 2003? no seated venue??? i know the TSB Arena (formerly Queens Wharf where they played in 1998) is a crapshack, but it can be seated. I saw Crowded House there in 2007 and it was seated, sold out, packed, and just fine thank you very much.
Hi all, finally had a chance to get on here. Just wanted to say i think i've hit the jackpot for tour tix to the adelaide show. I just got seats in the FIRST 3-4 ROWS!!!
After buying my TC tix yesterday morning which was lucky enough in itself, i had a call from my uncle saying he might be able to help me out with getting premium tickets that aren't available to the general public.
I just thought he meant TC tickets, after he explained it a bit more it turns out these tickets are somehow linked direct from the venue or somethin and are garunteed first 3-4 ROWS!! It has something to do with where he works - they get exclusive tickets to everything that comes to adelaide.
The only catch was that premium tickets come with a premium price $$$ and they needed to be purchased before 12pm 7th December. Sounds like that has to do with the start of the pre-sale.
So after all that i decided to grab some for me and some friends.
I wanted to see if anyone on here wants some? I think it would be better to have the real fans up the front than guys in business suits

I totally appreciate it is a financial thing. The Civic in Auckland holds about 2400. Say a ticket price of $110 USD. Two shows would gross $528K USD. I dont know the venue costs, but I cant imagine the transportation would be excessive given its just him (ie less gear). Also he could fly LAX - AKD - Brisbane - its not a MAJOR inconvienance. It just seems to me there is money in it. The demand would be there - PJ sold 60,000 tickets in NZ llast year, Ed could get 5000.

Vector was booked I think for Nov 3 and 4 before Australia. The plan was for Pearl Jam to open the venue. However delays to the project, in some respects caused by financial disputes due to the failure to hedge the steel price, led to a delayed vector and thus no PJ in nz.
the opera house in welli holds just slightly less than that, but the nicer st james holds 1550... however, if he plays 2 shows in auckland, it doesn't exactly cost a lot of money to get from auckland to wellington. i tell you what ed, i'll come pick you up.

Pearl Jam Pearl Jam Pearl Jam!
I'm looking to buy a single ticket to Ed's Sydney Opera House show, PM me if you've got a spare! I don't care where the seat is!
I just worked it out today...and because I don't live near any major city airports.....My trip to Melbourne...Flights, shows tickets(thanks ziggy!) and accommodation and other stuff will work out to be the same as a trip to Wellington or Auckland.....go figure....If he comes to NZ..and I hope he does...I won't be going to see him.... :?

I'm pretty sure that's through ETC (Exclusive Ticketing Company). Generally you do get better seats though i'm not sure it would be guaranteed rows 3-4 as I use to do some work for ETC and Wendy the owner doesn't guarantee anything! But on the flip side you prob will get better seats that 10C.
Have fun!
