    Anyone going tomorrow?

I'm not but will probably watch some of it on tv (I'm guessing it will be televised somewhere?)

Also not really Big 5 related but how about Penn St. beating #8 Purdue last night? They've looked pretty decent this year (could be ranked in next weeks poll).

The Big  5 Classic is well done and a nice home at the Wells Fargo.  Little disappointing the games weren't great yesterday but Ill take the win for my Hawks.   If the teams can improve and get back to being really good teams in the future could really end up rocking the Wells Fargo.  Let's hope that happens in the future.  But it's going to take more than just nova to get back to be really good.

and Johnny it looks like the pods next year you will be with Nova and Lasalle and the Hawks will have Penn and Drexel according to the Inquirer.

I had the good fortune of hanging out with a buddy who's a huge Temple fan right after that game ended on Saturday.

It was an enjoyable evening lol. Go Cats.

It isn’t an official league or conference. Basically an informal league for bragging rights. Last year they drastically changed the format and now there’s a triple header in the Sixers arena.

It used to be the main 5 Division 1 schools in the city, well novas not in the city actually, would all player each other every year and decide a city champion.  In the late 80s/early 90s after fat ass Rollie Massimino won the title in ‘85 nova big timed the other schools and decided they only wanted to play 2 of the games each year.  It was a pr nightmare for them until Jay Wright came along and valued the Big 5 again. He then kicked the ever living shit out of the other teams winning the most Big 5 games in a row.  Once he retired and the Big East went to 20 conference games a year it was decided to the on this new format.  The new format now includes Drexel the 6th D1 school in Philly.  So the new format is two 3 team pods that each play two games at home sites  Then the pods crossover for a one day Triple header at the Wells Fargo center to decide who finishes 1st thru 6th.

It's an unofficial conference that provides an opportunity for schools in the area to play against a true Blue Blood program once a year.

See Jugglers comment above why everyone in Philly hates nova fans.

ask him how nova has finished the two years of the current pods and Big 5 classic,  hint: at least
this year they didn’t finish last

Ha....as you can see Nova remains in some people's heads non stop around here even during down times. Beating them is akin to their national championship. It is amusing lol.

Wob---I loved those Tark UNLV squads and, yeah, Rollie stole money out there. JR Rider was fun to watch for a while though.

I'm a Temple Owls graduate and season ticket holder. I went to the East Regionals during my senior year in 1999. Still waiting for a Final Four appearance. I'd take that and a regular season loss to Villanova, and not winning the Big 5, gladly.

Come on...you'd take over winning a "pod?!" lol

How about that Juan PEPE Sanchez. That was a fun team.

Find it hard to believe Temple lost to Nova in '99 though. Those latter Lappas years were rough.

Those Owls were always streaky and could lose at any time. But they played the toughest schedules, played killer D and didn't turn it over. It's feeling like an era we'll never see again, especially after getting crushed (and fucked over by Villanova) in the conference wars.

no real alliance to any particular team for me. If I had to pick one it would be Nova though. Dad went to St. Joe's so I do like them as well.

Kudos to LaSalle fans. Played at North Carolina today and they introduced Belichick and LaSalle fans did Eagles chant.
