Standing on the lawn, after Nothingman, an older gentleman says to me, so you’re a real fan, eh? I nod in agreement. He says, you know, I don’t really know much of their stuff, but they are clearly heads n’ shoulders above most of the acts I’ve seen today.

I tell him how PJ is the greatest band he’ll ever hear/see live….he then cuts me off and says, man they’re clearly on top of their game, play great together, and just sound better.

    Nuff said.

And to validate, I told my friends (all PJ fans) after Billy Idol, now we get to hear what a real band sounds like!!!

Grateful for Nothingman, glad I got to hear it live.

My brother and I were able to drive up from LA last minute and I made it to shoreline in 4 1/2 hours. Eventhough I had to deal with all the giants fans celebrating, PJ made me feel much better. We were at the very back of the lawn but damm did they sound great. Did anyone else meet the guy from S.Africa that was there by himself and was super cool? Or the married couple that was 8 months pregnant and the mother to be had a self made shirt that read future PJ fan, and an arrow pointing to her belly? I forgot her and her husband's name but thanks for being so friendly and I can't believe they have been to over 70 shows.

Someone shouted out "Congratulations" or something between the first two songs, and Ed goes all, "I wasn't going to mention the anniversary, it's all about the kids tonight, but thanks...."

Ed also mentioned how gee, 20 years ain't nothing to the performers he was in the presence of, something like it feels like they're only halfway or something. Was pretty cool mention.

And yeah, Ed was on fire, nailing it, grooving with Neil on Walk With Me. Dancing Barefoot was the highlight for me, well, and the quartet arrangement of Black!!! And Santa Cruz with the Full Band! And the lullabye Betterman on the parlour guitar (jeff then took over the parlour for a song!) And the full acoustic Unthought Unknown .. oh yeah, and just how awesome these guys are full acoustic!!!! As you can see in the vids, Boom was present as well, don't recall him in years past at Bridge, always a great addition! Nothingman, oh my!

Pearl Jam was in top form, Billy put on a good set aided by the GIANTS WINNING THE PENNANT during his opening song (wherein the crowd literally drowned him out cheering), Buffalo was really nice (but so cold and wet at that point), Kris was fun too I dig his vibe, honestly disappointed with Jackson Browne and Elvis Costello's sets ... so many songs I would have rather heard than a string of ballads with Emmylou (and I was actually WITH my wife at this show, but still...). Elvis sang his last song with Peggy, Emmylou, Lucinda, and Kris ... and it ... well, the chorus was a bit of a trainwreck, harmonizing nightmare!

    Let's do it again!

anybody know what make/model his black(?) parlour guitar was that he used at the bridge?

    thanks
