Google them....... NYC hotels are having a terrible time controlling them.
One they get in your house they all but take over. Most times it costs thousands to get rid of them.
Newest reports are that the cabs are full of them too.... you will not read about the outbreak in the papers, it would kill the tourist season... just becareful and shake you stauff out really well before you bring it back into your house.
A pessimist is a man who thinks all women are bad. An optimist is one who hopes they are.
Can you specify what "reasonable" is? I looked this up a few years for my parents' trip here. I agree, Tripadvisor is quite useful but here are a few for you to narrow down your list by. I haven't actually stayed at any of these places (since I live here!) but they were on my shortlist for my parents.
- Gershwin (they have shared bathroom option, probably about a 10-15 minute walk to MSG)
- Union Square Inn (10 mins by subway that takes you 34th & Broadway, a 5-10 minute walk to MSG)
- Hotel 31 (a few blocks from MSG)
- Hotel Deauville
- Hotel 17
I ultimately chose to suck it up and booked the Park South Hotel, which isn't too close to MSG, but it's probably a nice walk (or an under $10 cab-ride) and it has a ton of dining options around especially Indian (it's by Curry/Murray Hill). It's a nice little boutique hotel, great service and worth every bit I paid for it. Hope this is helpful.
You can absolutely walk from the park south. 15 minute walk. My brother stayed there abot a year ago and said it was a good hotel.

100% percent correct.
Bring your sleeping bag or your own linens.
I thought about keeping everything in my small suitcase, and tying it up in a clear plastic bag in the room. This kind of creeps me out. I've heard one way to check if there's bed bugs in the bed where you're staying is look around the edge of the box spring and if you see lots of little spots that's not a good sign.

I got bedbugs from a hostel in Australia, they give you a shampoo/cream/ body wash thing at the doctor and they're gone in 5-7 days, its pretty rare that they get into your clothes/suitcases etc, they certainly didn't get into any of my bags.
Then again I must attest that I cannot speak for New York or New Yorkers experiences.

Bed bugs dont live on your body like lice or scabies.... they hide in furniture until it's dark, come out, suck your blood and scurry back into their dwellings. They initally sting you with a numbing thingy they have and then when you are nice and numb they suck your blood!
Enjoy the show!

If anyone is really on a very strict budget, and really can not afford anything except in a dangerous area, please PM me. I will let someone (who is respectable and kind) stay in my office..which has tv, a/c, refrig, bathroom (no shower but one 2 blocks away in my gym) and TV...for free. Across from Lincoln center. I Do not think I am going to work the day between the 2 shows, ie the 25th. (I am a doctor and my office is on the west side of Manhattan)

of course us NYers are super sensitive about it, but it has been reported as a widespread problem in NYC.
Personally, I think its less likely to happen at a nicer hotel, but it does happen
Damn you, now I'm itching all over
Does that work?
It seems from the stories I'm reading that these things can be anywhere in the room.

So...if i get bedbugs on me, how long will they stay? Will i end up bringing them home with me via my body?
I can't believe i'm asking these questions! It makes me itch just thinking about it.
"To is a preposition.
Come is a verb"
I think you might have had lice?
I don't think bedbugs stay on your body.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me...
Awesome. That makes MY mind settle a little.

Come is a verb"
Seriously, I dont know.
Try web md
yeah but can i sue the hotel for getting those fuckers on me ..
That makes it worse though. Your body is a small area. Your entire house is huge. They could be hiding anywhere.
Alright, I'm out of this thread
Thanks. 'preciate that

I believe i read in that article posted that someone sued a hotel and the hotel "quietly settled".

ahhhhhh-the heart of the matter. It depends if they were aware it was a problem or if it was foreseeable that it would be.
Enjoy the show!
