For me..I kinda took a round about way...The singles soundtrack with SOLAT and Breathe...got me hooked and opened my eyes to Ten..and then VS hit and it was on...the anger...the passion and the smarts.....made me a believer in rock n roll
36 shows later here I am...
Too many young males beleive that manhood is defined by the ability to injure a man, rather than helping one.
There are two kinds of women in this world....one that will give you strength....the other will take it away.....
Daughter/ABITW2 from the Animal single. Obviously I had heard Pearl Jam when Ten came out and knew who they were, but it wasn't until a school mate of mine loaned me this CD that I gave them a chance.
Listening late at night to a "New Music Monday" or something on WIOT in Toledo, while I was in school at Bowling Green. Had my headphones on, lying on my bed and listened to a man open his soul to the world, while the instruments swirled around ("spinning" I should say) my head.
Amazing stuff. Still my favorite song after all these years...
My rhymes and records they don't get played
Because my records and rhymes they don't get made
And if you rap like me you don't get paid
And if you roll like me you don't get laid.
I started off with Ten, and could listen to Even Flow and Jeremy over and over again. This was 1995, but I started from the beginning. Those first few years were awesome. There was probably a week where each song was my favorite.
It sounds late but the year of 1994, my ex bf and best friends sister got me into them, the song...Black from 1992 Unplugged made me stream tears.
State of Love and Trust will always be my favorite.
Here’s a question you might need to ask
What’s self destruction and how can we last?
"I cannot stop the thought of running in the dark.
Coming up a which way sign. All good truants must decide."

For it me it was the Jeremy Single and finding Footsteps and Yellow Ledbetter. After owning Ten for a while, I borrowed this disk from a friend who then told me I could keep it and it became one of the CD's that never left my car in my younger years.
