I guess the New York Liberty will still be the only original team left to not win a Finals

Generational talent.  No way Indiana gives that up.

I know. But there have been instances where a #1 didn't want to play for the team that was going to draft them.

Anything is possible, but I would guess a player from Iowa would want to play in Indiana?

I don't think anyone has that much clout for the WNBA...

Man. Decent tickets last year would cost maybe $50. Now they're 350 because of Caitlin Clark

I still haven't watched a WNBA game from start to finish but i do like reading about it.

They filled an arena for the allstar game this weekend. That's impressive.

They will be expanding the schedule next year.

The leagues are making money now.  How long before that translates to the players' salaries?

I get that there is Aja, Turrasi and others but Caitlyn Clark is the main reason people got excited about the WNBA.  The Reece girl has been averaging a double double the whole year too.  I believe she has fanfare and a following also.

I'll kindly disagree.  NOBODY was in the stands until this year.  I saw highlights of games where they barely had people in the lower bowls of the stadiums.  It was pretty consistent all across the league.
In person, the crowds have been big. The 400,000 fans that attended WNBA games were the most in the first month in 26 years. More than half of all WNBA games were sellouts, which is a 156% increase from last year, and WNBA arenas were filled to a 94% capacity, up 17% from last year.

First time have opened this thread in a long time

    @tempo_n_groove was right, above, 💯
Clark, and to a lesser extent, Reese, exploded those thing.
Good for the women involved, and those who are fans

I watched a number of games this year.  I like it.  Sorta like old NBA games before the impossible athleticism took over.
Both are fun versions of basketball to watch.

At least you must have a much easier time finding people to talk with about WNBA now.

It was already on its way up. It was just another jolt. It was more about the controversy between those 2 that caught interest. If was just her going for the record there probably wouldn't be much interest.

I think the numbers show tempos point to be true.  It may have increased year over year but nothing changed to make it skyrocket like that other than those rookies.
This is everyone at every sports media company vs. Sheryl Swoopes.  Just because some people don't want to give credit where it is due, doesn't change the facts.  Clark totally transformed the sport, and good for everyone who benefits.

She didn't transform it. Yes, new eyeballs are watching. But if it wasn't for what happened between those 2 in college during that game. We're not talking about them. And we "know" a good portion are MAGA types. And who haven't watched saying the game has gotten better since she came. When there were players like Becky Hammond, Sue Bird, Tina Charles, Breanna Stewart, Diana Taurasi, Sabrina Ionescu, and others before. She's a good player and probably be one of the all time greats. I mean the league has been around for 27 years.
