SMU has Jameis Winston at quarterback.

Franklin completely bailed out from a horrible decision.

The problem is that if you reduce the number, there will still be pressure to reward conference champions. So while I get it cutting it back and reducing a round, the net result this year would still be a Clemson and Boise State in there and the loss of a OSU and Penn State.

They don't look comfortable,  even dressed like it is 10 below.
It wasn't that bad. A simple winter jacket and a winter hat. I get Saban being weak to the cold weather, but UM boy Desmond?
Congrats on the beat down of What Up, Knight's football team.
Sure that was a fun game to watch.
    Now on to Georgia.
I didn't end up going into the game, but I was out there for a bit. Pretty wild environment. Not that they ever will, but maybe the 1st 2 rounds should be hosted at the better seeds school.
Notre Dame looked good.  Better than I expected.  Marcus Freeman has them playing physically.  It will be great when he's back in Columbus coaching.
He has grown tremendously as a coach this season. It has been fun to watch his maturation these past few seasons.
Not that it will never happen, but if they were to fire Day after the Oregon game, there is no chance CMF leaves to Ohio after this season.

That was a tongue in cheek comment, but when you say "no way", do you mean just next year or ever?    He's Huber Heights and OSU.  That means something.  Now I would prefer Vrabel be our next coach, but I certainly wouldn't rule out the Buckeyes making a run at any Ohio boy.  That means Freeman, Vrabel, Fickel or even Urban again.  The fans will not stand for another non-Ohio guy coaching the team.  We don't like it.  That's the current that really runs underneath all of the criticism of Day.

yeah, that’s true. Right now, this format needs some tweaking. I like plucky little Boise but they shouldn’t have gotten a bye and PSU shouldn’t have been given the cakewalk they got. The next round should be more competitive (with the possible exception of PSU/Boise).

I'd like the First 2 Rounds held at the Higher Seeds too.

But with the Bowls I don't see that happening.

I don't see it happening in the next 2 years, but I wouldn't rule it out ever happening for the reasons you stated. I really think he is bought into Notre Dame and they culture he has built there. This year is mostly his players. Next season will be with all his players. Don't think he underestimates the value of (hopefully) winning a Natty at ND. That may motivate him to stay there a bit longer.

The money is where the coaches are going to want to go.  Makes a big difference.

4th and a foot would have ended the game but he punted and SJSU gave up a tying FG.

Now I'm really confused.  When did this happen?  In the 4th quarter, USF missed a chip shot FG to take the lead with less than 5 minutes left.  SJSU drove down the field and attempted a FG with 4 seconds left which they missed as well.  Then we went to OT.  So I really don't recall a 4th and a foot that led to a FG.  It must have been with a ton of time left.

    You watching the right game?

South Florida 41-39 San José State (Dec 24, 2024) Final Score - ESPN

USF tied with a FG with 2 seconds left. After SJSU punted on their previous drive.
Wobbie however is talking out of his ass calling the coach gutless (shocking), they were at their own 14. Of course you punt. If you go for it on 4th and fail, you lose that game in regulation most likely.

Also neither kicker missed a FG in the game. So honestly not sure which game you watched.
    This weekend we rock Portland

Oh shit I was thinking of the NIU game. They both missed chip shots late.

I did watch USF as well. But I was mixing up the events leading to OT.  My bad.

Not talking shit. Yes, they were on their own 14, BUT….

they probably get a foot and the game’s over.

maybe they don’t get a foot but hold USF to a FG, which happened anyway.

maybe they don’t get a foot and USF scores a TD and wins, which they did anyway

gutless call. Players and fans would have been fine with going for it, no matter the outcome.
