My wife was born and raised in Clemson, so I married into that fanbase. I couldn't wear a Clemson shirt to the grocery store 2 years ago without a dozen people cheering for them.
Only 2 trips to the championship and now everyone wants them to lose?

I could name two dozen teams I’d rather see lose.

Well, tweedyfanjen and I are South Carolina alums/fans, so our despise of Clemson runs far deeper than these last 2 years.

And my condolences for your in-laws.

It's a pretty big rivalry if you haven't already noticed. I almost disowned my dad last year because he pulled for Clemson in the playoffs.

You understand, but most don't. For the most part, outside of the state, not too many people realize the SC-Clemson rivalry is as heated as it is. I was traveling through Texas last week and upon seeing my SC hat, a Longhorn fan asked if I was excited that a team from my state was in the CFP. I then had to ask if he would be happy if Texas A&M made it. He replied "Hell no. Longhorn fans hate A&M." I informed him that was the nature of our rivalry.

I read an article on what the BCS rankings would be compared to the CFP final rankings.  Pretty close to each other with the biggest difference  Georgia being #2 instead of Oklahoma.

I wasn't into college football at all until I married. It was a whole new world. And the rivalry is brutal.

Welcome to Tallahassee, Coach Taggart! I like it.

3rd job in the last calendar year.

he had to can their best receiver (who came to Utah) over a DUI, just to take the heat off the shitshow he brought to eugene. bad hire.

Call it money machines or whatever you want. You and I agree on a lot of things but this cannot be one of them. A dude quit coaching a schook to coach another. This move was highly anticipated. I probably heard of the rumors some 2 weeks ago +. In doing so, he received a SUBSTANTIAL guaranteed pay increase.

I just left a company that paid above the median annual income and treated me very well personally, for a job that will pay me nearly double. I don't think that makes me a sellout, but rather a guy that wants to improve his (and his girlfriend's) quality of life.
I assume you weren’t already making $45 million at your old job? If I took a job with a 67% pay increase right now, it would be nothing less than an absolute blessing. I’m struggling to make ends meet and going further into debt each month. Not, taking a better paying job doesn’t make everyone a sellout. But you and I aren’t making 8 figures.  If you can’t survive off $45 million, you’re doing something wrong.
Welcome to Tallahassee, Coach Taggart! I like it.
Okay okay, now you have confused me here. 1 guy leaves his job (coaching the team you root for to coach another team) to take another for a substantial pay increase and he is a sell out?

Meanwhile, a guy leaves a job (coaching some team to come coach the team you root for) to take another job at a substantial pay increase and you are welcoming him with open arms? You're killing me Smalls!

    Go Cubs!

Difference being Taggart never sold out the Oregon fanbase with lies and deception.
  • markymark550markymark550 Columbia, SC Posts: 5,158
Just don't let Taggart tweet about upcoming bowl games.
2012 - tweeted about WKU's bowl game, 3 days later he's head coach at USF
2016 - tweeted about USF's bowl game, 2 days later he's head coach at Oregon
2017 - tweeted about being excited about finding out which bowl Oregon will participate, now head coach at Florida State

Granted, most coaches tweet/talk about their excitement for their team being in a bowl game. He has no control when someone will offer a better job, it's just bad timing. Funny, but still bad timing.

Well he's a better hire than Shiano or Leach.

well if you like a running game and no passing, Army/Navy game would be right up your alley.  only ONE completion (two passing attempts by both teams).  About 500 combined yards rushing so far.
