The first down measurment before the Clowney sack was inexcusable. I've never in seen a ref so blatantly on the take. I wonder how much money he got?

If you can fit your finger between the ball and the first down marker it is not a first down.

I also am of the beleif that Clowney has a shellfish allergy and decided he wanted a free blooming onion today :D

It was a 1 point safety. I guess it's only 1 point since the initial kick is only for 1 point?

glad he is staying at penn state but professionally not a good move in my opinion. once the scholarship limitations kick in winning is going to be very difficult. his profile for an NFL job will never be this good again...or if not never then not for about 10 years.

and how come no one mentions that Bowl games are nothing more than exhibitions. other than ND-Bama they mean absolutely nothing other than a reason to bet. they drive me crazy.

They have the number 1 QB recruit in the country coming in and a stud tight end who is the 66th overall recruit. They have a chance to be decent if those two stay committed, which from their tweets in the last 12 hours, seems like they are. Plus it seems like a lot of the things O'Brien asked to change are recruiting tools, so we'll see if that helps. The fact that he kept those two after everything that has gone on is pretty amazing.

I agree that his stock will never be this high, but he made a committment to those kids and he talked all about loyalty to them. If he left, it would have been a real fucking scumbag move. Also, who knows how much he was going to get paid by an NFL team after his buyout ($9 or $18 million, assuming $9 since no NFL team would interview him if it were $18). He is probably getting paid more at Penn State.

O'Brien pretty much says the same thing. All he said when it came down to the sanctions is I want to play and I want to play on TV. TV exposure is a lot more important than bowl games.

As much as I hate both teams, I hope Bama crushes Notre Dame.

is it over yet? or did the refs realize that stanford scored the touchdown, michigan didn't turn it over 6 times, purdue could actually make a figgie, usc didn't lose matt barkely, and dorsett could catch and miami's defense could hold onto a pick-6 (for what should have been a 21-0 lead) meaning that ND is 6-5 and playing a bowl they should be in? stupid irish i hope they get smoked tonight.

yeah, but.....alabama is such an embarrassment as a STATE

in so many categories like dropouts, poverty, teen mothers, money for education, illiteracy, illegitimacy, etc.....they seem to be on the wrong end of the scale :shh:

I cant tell if this is the most unwatchable title game since NYG-NE II (we got it the first time and didn't like watching yet why again?) or Duke-Butler (two hatable teams full of rich kids led by an asshole and an asshat in waiting)

IMHO, it's a more compelling matchup than last years ALA/LSU II
