i think you are baiting us into a tired argument presented by many climate skeptics which is the "earth has been around a long time and it goes through cycles" argument which has long been dismissed ...

this i totally agree with. long after we cease to exist, the earth will be here, regenerating herself to sustain whatever lifeforms evolve. and this is what humans just dont get, be it through ignorance, arrogance or apathy... its not about saving the earth, its about saving ourselves. clearly not something were good at.

And YES... I am wondering... what type of American would rather have fellow Americans die in the heat, than provide them with air conditioning that would save their lives? Because of money. Who puts money ahead of people's lives? I'm not calling you selfish... you are doing a good job painting yourself in that light.
And I have no idea where you get this whole 'entitlement' thing from me... when i'm just asking you to clarify your comments. My guess... this entitlement thing is buried deep within your psyche, where it is fueled with hatred and you cannot let go of it... so, you attach it to everyone that disagrees or questions you. If I'm wrong... tell me where it comes from.

Well first of the A/C thing was a joke, mocking the people who see everything as rights. If people need A/C to save their lifes in a disaster, then of course i would be all for helping them. , my statement was more of an everyday use, because it gets hot in the US. In fact I am probably the only person on this board whos family shared a house with some Hurricane Katrina victims. The entitlement thing comes from life perspectives, I live and travel through low low income areas, my wife works in inner city school. The effort by those communities to care about their education and the area where they live sickens me. Yet they live just as I do. I see the dish network satelites on the roofs, yet they have their kids window duct taped together. Its not hatred... Its disbelief. Its also disgusting to me that so many board members here think its ok to continual to give and give and so they aren't painted as selfish. Guess what... its the continual abuse of these systems and added luxuries that holds these poor people back. And your guys fix is just to give them what they want instead of showing them how to succeed by educational programs instead of cell phone programs.

So... If you are so concerned about the abuses of the systems... AND you have personally witnessed these abuses... WHAT have you done about it? Have you reported these abuses to the authorities? Or do you cower from your duties as a taxpayer to end these abuses?
Also... no one here has EVER advocated the abuse of programs to help the poor. If anything, we despise the people who abuse the system because it takes the resources from the ones who really need it.
