i haven't read this whole thread but how do we protect against people cherry picking other people's picks though?

once you guys see how money i am you're all gonna just look at my posts and copy them.

seriously though....has there been any talk of one person running this and we just pm our picks to him and then he posts them sunday morning or something?




also---i would strongly prefer only nfl games.

i could get the private messages but it gets shady there
if i was not the guy getting the pm's all i would want is to see everyone's picks by 1-1:15 the latest
then it's legit
which means i would need picks by 11am sunday (just guessing)
i would then be able to put a spreadsheet of everyones picks on this thread at 1- 1:15 sunday
of course you could pm picks the day the spreads come out if need be

as for my piks
i would have to make them public at some point to be fair

i will post my picks asap after the spreads come out
i've been in a league like this before and it's hard enough to trust your own picks let alone anyone else's
the best will pick at about 65% and most at 50%

and at 1pm
everyone sees their picks on a spreadsheet
they see everyone else's picks
and it's legit

there are really only 2 things we need to figure out
so put your 2 cents in and we will see what works


1.show picks in thread or pm picks to me, and i post mine in thread early
2.money

the first one is easy, just post which you'd like

the money question is- do you want to do the honor system and send a check to the winner at end of season

or

send me a 20$ check - that i would not cash til end of season- with that we could add the weekly "six for six" that would get anyone who hits all their piks some cash at the end of the year. the good thing about this is it can carry over and add up, and it keeps you interested weekly even if you can't pick your nose.

i think with the honor system we could not do the weekly thing
with the checks, i could just send winnings out after the last game

let me know what you think

2) checks - no offense to anyone here but honor system is a bad idea. I say give everyone up to around week 4 to send you a check. anyone not having a check in by end of week 4 i'd say is out. unfortunately i've run too many pools like this and know 1st hand that people who lose early have a tendancy not to pay unless you hound them - too much of a hassle. get the money up-front as much as possible is my advice.

Also, for what it's worth I'm against weekly payouts unless we up the entry fee. It's only gonna be a pot of around $400. I vote that winner takes all

the numbers do not work like that for the weekly
5 a man in a 20 man league = 100
17 weeks / 100 = like 6 bucks per week to be won
it has to be worth at least 10 per week if we are to do it

another set of numbers are
if we get 30 members
at 25 per head = 750
overall gets 500
each week is worth 15$ and it can carry over, week 17 would have to be worth only ten to equal out

if the people only want a 20$ bet
and we get 30 members = 600
we could make the weekly worth 10$
and overall gets 430

the more members
the numbers go up
