Actually we watched Chestnut. My daughter was so cute. She's 5 and she cried. Very good movie for anyone with kids. Had to hold back a tear myself. 8-)

So, you agree that when a politician invokes family values, that it's an empty catch-phrase?

No matter what the political leaning or belief, anytime anyone says "some people don't want to know the truth", it's merely a cop-out to one side being enlightened and the other ignorant sheep. Complete bs at it's finest. People hate Beck for his misuse of history, facts and details in order to paint some skewed grandiose version of reality, not because he"s on the far right.

Please... don't take this personally... and I apologise in advance if I insult you... which I really am not out to do...
But... is it just me... or are the dumbest people around us the ones who tend to say, "Some people don't want to know the truth"... like they are the only ones who know the truth?
I mean, I look long and hard for The Truth... and have been looking for it for at least a decade and a half... and I rarely find it. I find a lot of beliefs and opinions... some half truths and a ton of lies... but, not a whole lot of truths. And trust me... the LAST place you will find the Truth is Television.
Anyway... i just had to say that. Carry on with your... whatever it is you do...

My Geography teacher began talking about the Heartland, she said:

"The Heartland is supposedly a place where good old American values still exist today. Does anyone know where this is supposed to be?"

    Me: "Indian Reservations?"

There is no Truth, only truths that we come to support our interpretations and perspectives. It would take an egomaniac to declare "This is the Truth!!"

I haven't read it in a while, but Nietzsche's Thus Spoke Zarathustra has some interesting points on "Truth" (capital T).

That being said, I applaud you as a searcher, Cosmo. It is good to always search for, while at the same time confronting and questioning the "Truths" that abound around us. These Truths lay the foundation for many good aspects of our society, but they also can do the same for many ill aspects.

Well put. Why on earth do people in this country follow grotesque (apologies for clearly showing my bias) individuals like Beck, Limbaugh, and Palin? It is amazing. But, I guess it is easier than thinking for one's self. Also, a new season of America's got Talent begins soon.
