Everyone knows what family values (in their literal sense) mean, and we probably all agree on the basics (honesty, hard work, respect, etc)... but when it's used as a political rallying point seemingly encompassing every part of social conservatism, that is where the questions arise.
Honesty, respect, etc.. All agreeable.Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V0 -

Well.. you haven't explained what 'Family Values' are. Based solely upon messages you have posted on this site, my guess is 'Stupidity' is included as one of your core values.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

Yes... it is a serious question because people can't explain what they mean when the refer to 'Family Values'.
Like those Republican/Tea Partiers talk about bringing 'Family Values' back to America... does that mean you are going to have to start soliciting male prostitutes in public restrooms, for example?Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

It has been explained several times on this thread...are you having a problem comprehending…..“We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution.” Abraham Lincoln0 -

Not really. Someone posted the wikipedia definition, which was not cosmo's point, and Jason P outlined something about teaching integrity to children. Your contribution has been to roll eyes over people asking the question.
So Cosmo's point and question is simple: "What do YOU mean by family values?"
If you can't answer, that's kindof an answer in itself...

There is one meaning....the question should be ...Do you believe in Family Values?“We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution.” Abraham Lincoln0 -

I don't know, what do you mean by "family values"?
Tell me what they are, and I can answer whether i believe in them or not.
As it stands, it's akin to the concept "fair treatment". where of course the first follow-up question is "What is fair?" We should all believe in family values. My question is of course, what are they?

And in some societies family values means women being subordinate to men, because it's a "man's world"
And in some societies family values means mutilating girls at young ages to make them "pure" and "faithful"
And in some families their "values" consist of raising their children to believe your race, nationality, or sexual orientation gives you some sort of rank in this world.
So which meaning is it then...live pearl jam is best pearl jam0 -
