With the cutoff being thursday tho... hopefully alot of people don't hear about this by then
I just hope there isn't a bunch of cock sucking scalpers like the PJ vic show
Everyone did have a chance to sign up for the SG mailing list! In fact they had many months.
I realize that the impact of this thread is small. But it's just counter to commen sense to post stuff like this. Like when people post PJ ticket buying strategies. If someone really wants PJ tickets, let them put in the effort to figure it out on their own.
and that is the last I'll say on the subject... happy to let this thread disappear if possible... even happier if someone wants to take me up on the buddy system thing... someone honest preferably
good luck all!0 -
I am still stirring from the four hours trying to get Vic Tix in 2007.......rrrrrOut of the Blue and Into the Black................Uncle Neil Philly 08 here I come!!!!0

If I win, I'll take you. But your chances aren't good, I've seen alot of PJ shows, all from 10C seats, and I've never won the lottery.
End Thread here

Exactly! So don't be so ruffled up about this. I know some soundgarden fans (from day 1) that are not signed up to the soundgarden forum like I know huge PJ fans that aren't signed up for here. And what makes a 'bigger' fan? I bet there are a lot more of 'casual' SG fans than hardcore ones. And even then, I'm what you may call a 'bigger' fan, my daughter is what you would call a 'casual' fan but she would love to see them as much as I would. This thread here is really not going to make a difference to your chances of having your name possibly being picked out and after that possibly getting through online to buy tickets.
Spread the love, I say. Communicate to fellow fans.0 -

No one ever mentioned forums. I know plenty of huge PJ fans that are 10C members, but not forums members. But the first thing I did when I heard about the Soundgarden reunion was sign up for their FREE mailing list, so I could be notified about stuff like this. I would say that makes a bigger fan.
All Soundgarden fans had equal opportunity to sign up for the mailing list if they wanted information like this. There is no need for further communication. All this extra communication is going to do is dilute the lottery pool with casual fans and scalpers. So I say "spread the love" to the fans who signed up for email alerts months ago.
Since chances are so slim that someone would win because of this post, why bother, and make it harder for others to win? This thread won't make a huge impact, but it won't help. It's really more the principal of the matter. The constant "spreading of the wealth" that defies all common sense. It's like waiting in line all night at the box office, only to be told that there is a now a lottery, and everyone who just showed up has the same chance that you do.0 -

You know what, you think the way you do. But as already said, this thread doesn't matter and when it comes to the principle of the matter and the 'spreading of the wealth'.... check out what happens when you google Soundgarden Vic Theatre... These things are not secret, they are not for the few 'in the know'. Common knowledge. Those that read stuff like this and aren't interested, they don't sign up - no loss. Those that, for some reason, have a life and can't follow bands but are fans and love to see them, and notice such an announcement, they register to have a chance to see a band they like. I don't see a problem with this.

But why would someone randomly google "Soundgarden Vic Theatre"? How does that make sense? And why would the use google UK? If it is such common knowledge, then why even post it here and clutter up the PJ board?
Your thinly veiled attempt to say I have no life is a miserable fail. Chances are a huge PJ fan like me would hear that Soundgarden was reuniting. It took me all of 30 seconds to google their website and sign up for the mailing list. That takes much less time than using google UK to google "Soundgarden" on a daily basis.0 -
maybe they will do it like the Seattle show. No tickets, just show up with your ID.
Even with that tho... if a scalper wants to he/she can put it up on ebay with the stipulation that the buyer must meet them at the show and stand in line with them... that extra ticket (assuming they come in pairs) is where the trouble happens... i saw people making lots o' money off the extra and not even going to the show
this lotto system seems a hell of alot better than the mad rush ticket sale we had here tho
if you win a chance to buy tickets you have to register both persons' names. So I think scalping will be kept to a minimum.0 -
I hope only beautiful, young, African-American females win!0

and there WILL be scalpers now that lolla has announced this to every tom, dick, and harry :x
call me a hypocrite for all the "share the wealth" shit i said before... but this is just overboard!!!0 -

Soundgarden are playing a cool venue, they're playing Lolla and hopefully after we can all hope for news of a 'full' tour. Pure excitement. More chances to see them. Let's be happy.0 -
Plus, it's not like news like this can be kept a "secret" nowadays... Facebook (even the Pearl Jam fansite posted it in their status update), Twitter, anyone? It's all over the internet (hell, even on Soundgarden's official site), so anyone that has even the remotest interest in it will not have to come to a Pearl Jam forum to get hold of the news. So get over it.Bern - September 13, 2006

redrock wrote:Look... I googled this to show you that there are a number of sites that have reported the gig AND the process for the chance of obtaining tickets. Thus the fact that is was no secret. And why did I link to a search on google UK? Because I'm in the UK and that's what it defaulted to. No use arguing on semantics. No use arguing about the widespread knowledge of this gig. Because it is widespread. Will that 'dilute' immensely your chances of having your name picked and fighting the internet for tickets? Probably not. Mass email has been sent to those attending Lolla... do you think many Lady Gaga fans will all of a sudden think they MUST see Soundgarden and therefore MUST register? If one is not interested beforehand, one will not pursue this. On the other hand, if one is interested and found out about the gig in this manner - fair enough and good luck to him/her.

But you still miss the point, anyone who is going to google soundgarden daily, looking for a concert announcement, would have surely signed up for their mailing list. And if they are too stupid to do that, then they deserve to miss it! The other thing that you seem to miss, it's like 10% about diluting our chances, and like 90% why in the world do people do such stupid things (like post ticket buying tips to people they compete with)? So basically everything you post is not relevant.
I just wanted you to admit you were in the UK. Thanks for getting involved in our affairs! I'll remember that next time PJ is playing a small club show in London.0 -

Just drop it. You're just being petty. Plenty of 'non-UK' people were at the small shows in London. Do we complain? No! If you have a grand laying about for flights and hotels to attend a two hour gig, all the best to you! 'getting involved in your affairs'... that's funnyAnyway, you really don't seem to understand what I post and you are missing the point, so let's just leave it at this... OK?
