What is people's take on looking up things online?
I remember as an 80s and 90s kid. Not having internet. You would have to grind out games, sometimes shitty games, and figure things out on your own. Draw maps and take notes sometimes. You would have to talk to other kids on the bus or at lunch and share information. That was great.
But now, you can look online for the best/easiest stategies, maps, item location, etc. Being a working stiff with kids it is a timesaver, but it feels like it ruins the experience a bit.
There were also game books/magazines and hot lines you could call for help in the golden age, so I feel like seeking help is okay. I try to figure things out, but if I start getting frustrated to the point of not enjoying the experience, I don’t mind looking online for answers. Life is too short and there are too many games in line to play to waste energy.
I remember calling the tip hotline a few times back in the day. Even the game guides didn't always cover everything. Got stuck in Shadow gate forever. That game tested my patience big time.
