    Actually, I'm lying.

    That's WEAK, dude!
almost as weak as a 47-year-old woman saying "that's WEAK, dude!"

Have to agree! She is very much a 'has been' but I do remember her with a certain fondness...looking back to the days of wearing shoulder pads and sporting the curly perm that was so in fashion back then...BTW I was a teenager...dude!

Yeah, same with Florida. Believe me, I've thought about it. I'm just too much ingrained in the culture here. I'd be a fish out of water living in LA. Plus I'd probably get beat up wearing my Rondo jersey.

I know what you mean. I'm so used to the New England culture that if I go out there, it'll be strange.

  • Sorry Newch. This weather bullshit is really screwin with my work/board time. This is ridiculous. 75 inches of snow in the month of January in CT. Most snow out of any month, EVER. Most snow for the season ever was recorded at 115 inches. At this rate, we'll pass that in no time, as we're supposed to get another 4-8 today, with another 2-5 tomorrow morning, which will be covered with ice/sleet/freezing rain. And Roof Rakes? Really? This is insane. I have never seen so much snow on the ground all at once in my 28 years on this planet. I feel bad for all the kids in school. They're slated to go to the very last possible day, June 30. There has even been talk of adding classes on Saturdays to make up for any more snow days that may come. This, is where the internet could be quite handy. Get the kids online to partake in the classes...We're already doing it in college, so it would be a good way to get through crazy winter seasons like this...I know, not all kids have internet access, or even computers at that, but it would at least get the majority of the kids taken care of so schools dont have to cut down their summer vacations to barely a month. My respect for those in areas who are used to this amount of snowfall has grown exponentially. If it were possible, I would be considering a move to somewhere warm. Fuck You San Diego ;) with your off the wall cost of living and crazy overpopulation.

Ed. Your warming up in Australia. Come to CT to thaw us out afterward....you know, some more exercise of those vocal chords in preparation of PJ20!!! :D

I think they'll start cutting in on April vacation. I saw on the news yesterday that Monroe took out their February vacation.

Please Ed. Please thaw CT out.

    Same here.

Eddie, we really, REALLY need you to give us some ray of hope to cling to...

Haven't been on the boards in a couple of days _ had a great weekend with the dogs in New Hampshire, all three of them did well and we had a lot of fun.

TT, that's a great idea about using the Internet for kids on days like this. If adults can work from home (depending on their job) on snow days, why can't kids? Especially since we all know when the storms are coming, so teachers could have a chance to be prepared.

In Massachusetts they have to be in school 180 days each year. I'm not sure if that's a state or federal requirement. I wonder if it explicitely states that they have to be physically present?

Cheer up, all... baseball is coming...

  • Im pretty sure 180 is the Federal Standard amount of school days. And, a half day counts as a full day. But the biggest problem in that would be that there are underprivileged kids who dont have access to internet, or even computers. They'd have to figure out a way to get around that, in order for it to work out. But if you think about it, even if they had to use one bus to get all those kids to the school, or library or where ever to get computer access, it would still be worth it, and, the parents of those underprivileged kids would probably be happy about it too, cuz most parents have to miss work when kids have no school and day cares are closed. So all around, I think it would be a benefit. I wonder what they do in other states where feet and feet of snow on a weekly basis is a regular occurrence. They just man up and put chains on the bus tires? That sux. Can u imagine having to walk to your bus stop thru 20 inches of snow on the roads/sidewalks that havent been plowed yet? Fuck that.

This snow is fuckin ridiculous. Paid my neighbor $20 to drive his bobcat over and push the snowbank on the side of my driveway into the middle of the lawn, then scoop the snow on the other side and dump it in the pile on the lawn. I had nowhere to put it.

Fuck it, since we're making a run for the snowiest winter of all time, might as well keep these storms coming and bury that record (literally). At least next summer we can have a laugh about it when it's over.

If I was still in high school and playing baseball, cleaning all this snow would've been my conditioning for the season.

Awesome....great link. Thanks. Takes me back to Liverpool (no I am not old enough to have actually seen the Beatles!) I think this song is just for them...no one else could make it sound the way they do!

  • I thought I was smart - I thought I was right
I thought it better not to fight - I thought there was a
Virtue in always being cool - so when it came time to
Fight I thought I'll just step aside and that the time would
Prove you wrong and that you would be the fool -

I don't know where the sun beams end and the star
Lights begins it's all a mystery

Oh to fight is to defend if it's not
Now than tell me when would be the time that you would stand up
And be a man - for to lose I could accept but to surrender
I just wept and regretted this moment - oh that I - I
    Was the fool

I don't know where the sun beams end and the star
Lights begins it's all a mystery
And I don't know how a man decides what right for his
    Own life - it's all a mystery

My thoughts today on my birthday, put eloquently by The Flaming Lips song "Fight Test". I've listened to Yield twice today in the library and felt Yoshimi would help put things into perspective this day.

  • Just thought I would pop in and say hello to my peeps in this thread. Haven't been by for awhile. How is everything going? My husband is going to be up your direction this next week doing some ice fishing. He is going to Sutton, MA. I, unfortunately, have to stay home and work. :(
