Yah... Leo's been VERY fortunate with the roles he's gotten... not that they're entirely undeserved, but he has one of the greatest directors of the past (Scorsese) and the greatest director of the present/future (Nolan) eating out of the palm of his hand...

Nice to see Nolan reusing Cillian even if its not to his full potential... he must see something there

the whole wobble/not wobble argument seems like a moot point... why were the kids the same age and in the same outfits?! i agree that i heard a bit of a wobble... BUT STILL

Maybe the next batman film will do a bit more with scarecrow... this deserves a leading role I reckon... Murphy can be a creepy bollox. At least he got ONE emotional scene where he gave it everything.

Lol at the ages and clothes, never considered that. Need to see this a second time... but gonna give it a while to rest my brain :D

I really don't get Leo... but that might be a whole other thread  sometimes he's really good and I think I'm starting to get it... but there's just something 'GOOD' about him... just good!

So I saw this movie twice, once with my wife and once with my sister and they both without a doubt felt that the top kept spinning....damn pessimist....It wobbled and eventually fell is what I left the theater thinking...Nolan satisfied both types of viewers..........and Leo is the man..

while it was spinning I said 'it's gonna fall' and when it wobbled and ended I concluded that it fell

I usually don't like films that let you make up your own mind cos sometimes it can be a bit lazy but the reaction from everyone in the cinema was brilliant... it was a collective gasp and then 'noooo' and then laughing

This was the best film I've seen in years. :D

i think with this - just like the twist in shutter island - the "bad" scenario is actually the more optimistic

Leo wasn't fit to live in the real world... staying in dreamland was perfect for him

Nope... it was the first thing I said afterwards... well basically I don't think any of the characters were developed... otherwise I'd say Cillian Murphy shoulda had the lead role :D but I don't think any of the characters were better than the others... I think they were all pretty one dimensional and superflouous to the plot.

I wanna see it again now though

  • If u stayed for the credits at the end, there were 2 actors that played his daughter, one at age 3 & one at age 5. So I don't think they were the same age at the end as they were in his memory, cause this shows that 2 years had passed... hmmm :problem:

ah good catch... guess I'll have to see a freeze frame of both sets of kids to be convinced... i still tell ya they looked exactly the same!

    From IMDB:

Claire Geare ... Phillipa (3 years)
Magnus Nolan ... James (20 months)

Taylor Geare ... Phillipa (5 years)
    Johnathan Geare... James (3 years)

Explains why the daughter would look similar. I think this puts the kids being the same age argument to rest.

I really want to see it again.

And although not as good, I have the urge to see Shutter Island again. I should probably pick it up. I love the whole dream/reality/confusion thing in these movies.

strange how Leo would play two roles that are so similar within such a short space of time :D

just got my copy in the mail. can't wait to watch it again
  • I know the movie is open to interpretation but the one I believe is

The whole movie is actually just a dream that Leo had and he had no idea who the other people were on the plane. Nolan shows us that dreams can be very complex and make absolutely no sense. The reason the others are in his dream is because we only use faces of people that we have actually seen before in our dreams.

Examples that show it's just a dream.

Leo doesn't stay to see if the top falls over at the very end, because he doesn't care, it was just something random from his dream.

When they're on the plane and Leo finally gets back from his dream, there are no tubes attached to his arm like there were previous times when they were in the dreams.

The film is shot all in the same type of camera lens until the very end, Nolan uses some sort of filter over the lens that is often used in movies when someone just wakes up.

Rather than being birthed like a normal child, Chuck Norris instead
decided to punch his way out of his mother's womb. Shortly thereafter
    he grew a beard.
