Never saw the Pumpkins but saw Billy with Zwan here and I thought he put on an outstanding show. But then I'm one of the few Pumpkins fans that really liked Zwan. Look forward to the show tonight. I saw they played Drown last night in Austin so I'm not feeling so confident they''ll play it again tonight. One can dream.

So they put on a good show. The acoustics where they played in Houston aren't the best, but the Pumpkins also turn their amps to 11. Here's the setlist.

    My Love is Winter
    A Song for a Son
    Astral Planes
    Ava Adore
    Today
    Drown
    As Rome Burns
    Eye
    Bullet With Butterfly Wings
United StatesThe Star Spangled Banner / Moby Dick
    La Grangetease (ZZ Top cover)
    Spangled
    Tom Tom
    Cherub Rock
That's the Way (My Love Is)
    Tonight, Tonight
    Encore:
    Freak
    Gossamer

They played my favorite song - Drown, so no complaints there. Only two songs from Siamese Dream but I know they're pushing the new stuff. They played La Grange as a tribute to Houston's only famous rock band. Billy wanted to play Pearl Necklace but none of his 20-something bandmates even knew the song lol. All in all, he seemed to be having fun on stage, smiling a lot. Song for a Son is a great song off his new album. And a side note - his new bass player is a cutie. She looked more like a sales clerk in Macy's than a bass player in the Smashing Pumpkins, but she was a nice distraction from looking at Billy's mug all night.

Edit: Here's a pic of the bass player. Her name is Nicole Fiorentino.

  • love chick bassists. love em. Darcy was my fave. Auf der Maur a close second.

That's awesome that you got the one song you wanted. And all the tunes off the new EP's. Pretty tight. I hope hope hope he brings his show up to the Peg sometime soon. It's been 10 years.

saw the pumpkins last night in Sydney and was very impressed. Not a bad set either.

The Fellowship / Lonely Is The Name / Today / Astral Planes / Ava Adore / A Song for a Son / Drown / As Rome Burns / Bullet with Butterfly Wings / United States > Star Spangled Banner > Moby Dick / Spangled / Stumbleine / Rhinocerus (tease) > Cherub Rock / Zero / Stand Inside Your Love / Shame / Freak / Tonight, Tonight / Tarantula

Encore: Get Free [The Vines] (featuring two members of The Vines) / Gossamer

Nicole is fucken HOT 8-) and the new drummer is not too bad behind the kit. No Jimmy, but he gets the job done prety well
