The ratings were the lowest since 2004.

No Tiger=low ratings. Like him or not he brings people to the TV that otherwise would never watch golf.
better get used to it. Elin fucked him up with that 9 iron. :))

Joe Buck and The Shark calling the US Open starting in 2015. Do not think I am a fan of that at all.

I'm looking forward to the Transformer playing golf during commercial intros and outros and "Crank It Up!" advisorys when Bubba is hitting his tee shot.

Apparently. Wasn't aware of that. Now there is going to be 3 sets of golf broadcasting teams? Hicks, Nantz and Buck. NBC may be losing the US Open, but they aren't going anywhere in terms of golf coverage.

Good shit. I try and get to the range once a week and play 18 once a week in the summer. Not nearly enough to get any good.

honestly, cliff, i just want to be able to finish a round. i'm so bad right now that i usually give up out of frustration right around the 11th or 12th hole.

I hear you, man. My only advice would be when playing to concentrate on your game and not worry about what other people are doing. I am not incredibly competitive when it comes to beating people I am playing with. Not good enough. Try to beat my own scores and things.

Yep, that's what I try to do. A couple of my friends that I play with are pretty good and shoot in the low 80s regularly so that can be tough to deal with. I'm just happy breaking 100. Any day in the 90s is a good day for me.

But I hear the juggler, there have been many times where I have sat out the last few holes and just drank beers in the cart.

if you get easily frustrated to the point of not enjoying yourself ... perhaps golf is not the game for you ... hahaha

outside of that - my advice is to hit the range ... many people hit the golf course thinking they are gonna play relatively well without practicing ...

Yeah, man. My most often playing partner is slightly worse than me but a group I play with probably once a month is regularly in the 70's and 80's. My goal this year is to shoot an 88. Usually in the mid 90's. Shot at 91 last year.

I got so frustrated playing growing up, but now I just have fun with it. It's a hobby. What really frustrates the hell out of me though is when I destroy a drive and put in a perfect shot. Step up to my second feeling real good and chunk the fucker 30 yards. That pisses me right off.

been there done that ... haha ... my strategy now that keeps the game fun and sane is that knowing I'm not playing much - my goal each round is to make 6 pars or better ... that's it ... so, if i make triple on a hole - i can easily let it go ...

but yeah - nothing worse than duffing a shot or chunking a chip ...

because the time between albums is too long nowadays, I decided to drive to Detroit for the show. Touring buddy said "let's drive out and take our clubs". Anybody know of a good course to play in the Detroit area?

Make sure you don't leave those in your car at night. And drive the most crappy car you can aquire if you are staying overnight downtown.

Prepare to be amazed if you have never visited the Motor City.

I'll have to give Rory 7.5 out of 10 Tigers on the way he handled dumping his fiance. A three minute phone call out of the blue a few days after sending out wedding invites?

Looks like he turned out to be the perfect candidate to share the cover on Tiger's video game.

On the other hand, maybe it's good to bail early rather then get into a commitment early in your life. I still think any pro that's making good money is dumb to get married. To much tempation on the road.

Bingo. Sounds like you talked yourself into the right answer. Shitty way to do it, sure, but better now than later.

Is the weekend going to be interesting or is Kaymer going to run away with this? And what is with -9 in the second round at the US Open? Not a fan.

Shocked to see a score like that right now. Doesn't look like there will be much to watch this weekend unless someone has a huge afternoon today.

On a side note...why in the name of god does ESPN have Chris Berman doing the US Open???? Completely ruins it for me....watching it on mute right now.
