A little anticlimactic,but a great win for the anti-tiger.
4 birdies in the last 6 holes.Great finish on that course.Good job Phil.
tiger whining about how he couldn't figure out the speed of the greens. This is becoming his catch phrase.
He just can't keep the putter going.
Wanted Westwood to hold on but he faltered.
Oh well,on to Oak Hill where tiger will extend his Major drought.

give it to phil tho ... that guys goes big or goes home ... and any course that doesn't require you to hit driver - phil should always be the favourite ...

I'd like to say the golfing world lost a legend, but in fact the world lost one of its greatest people. Jim Langley was one of the nicest human beings to ever walk the face of the Earth and while I am so pleased to know he is now pain free & no longer suffering - it still hurts.
What a life this gentleman lived...
1959 NCAA Basketball Champion (w/ Cal Bears)
Marine
PGA Tour Player
Head Pro at Cypress Point Golf Club
Super husband, father, family man
Great friend to all...
Taught me that gratitude in life determines your greatness... http://blog.sfgate.com/ongolf/2013/07/2 ... dies-at-75
RIP Jim Langley...I am forever grateful to have known you.
Quite possibly the nicest man on the planet is an understatement.
I first met Mr. Langley on May 22, 1991 on one of those life-changing experience days we all tend to exerience once or twice in our lives. No, I didn't play Cypress, but, took a chance, walked into the pro shop and asked this kind man behind the counter to please not call the police on me for trespassing on private grounds. "I just want your answer to be, that the police are waiting for me at the gates. Please go out there quietly or, you just hung up the phone with the police and I've got five minutes head start to get out of here!" Mr. Langley laughed, and I interrupted him again, "you have to let me finish, to let the rejection be complete! Could I please play this golf course?!?!?!"
His response was Langley-classic, in that mild-mannered voice, "I've heard them all, but your's was the best one yet, and unfortunately, no, you can't play, but I'm not going to call the police. You can however take a scorecard!" Which I still have in my copy of MacKenzie's Golf Architecture today. He then suggested that I go down to Spanish Bay, which I did and which did change my life from an experience I had there. And when I walked to the counter to see about walking on, the pro asked me if I had just been up at Cypress, which I replied, yes! "Well, Mr. Langley called and asked me to take care of you."
Reliving that experience years later with Jim, he didn't remember, and it was simply because he touched so many the same way so many times. I'm grateful to have known him. Eternally grateful.

There is another Langley story where this cop from the Bay Area was vacationing with his family on the Monterey Peninsula. The young man had recently taken to the sport and was simply golf crazy.
While looking for Spyglass, he got turned around and and thought he had found it, got out of the car and went to the putting green and started practicing. Seeing what looked like an out of place tourist on Cypress Point property intrigued Mr. Langley, and he went out on to the putting green to investigate. When he asked, can I help you, the typical conversation started up:
New Golfer: Yes, I'm here to play, but wanted to practice my putting. I haven't been playing long and the putting drives me nuts!
Jim Langley: Well, yes,it's an intricate part of the game. It takes a lot of practice!
New Golfer: That's the problem! I'm a cop and work a lot of hours, plus with my wife....
Jim Langley: What time was your tee time?
New Golfer: I didn't have one. I was going to see if I could get on as a single.
Jim Langley: You're in luck! I was just going to tee off, you could join me if you like.
And away they went!
The entire time, this young cop not knowing he was not at Spyglass, but at one of the most exclusive club's in the world.
I was told that eventually, during the round, he explained exactly where was at and where he was playing and eventually he left the police force and became a much respected club pro, all with the help of Jim Langley.
Um, I somehow got lucky as shit today. Had a meeting this afternoon at a client so was working from home this morning, meeting got bumped up and was a call soooooo, I get to watch this entire round.
How everyone can't enjoy watching this is beyond me.
After this incident, the commentary of Gary McCord knocked a few of tigers' lovers down a peg on the tiger sycophant list.
His gushing praise at this prima donna display was embarassing.
Once again, tiger woods = drama queen.
"They don't give a shit Keith Moon is dead,
is that exactly what I thought I read."
Looked very dramatic. That was not his normal beginning to a 3-wood swing. He never intended to complete that swing. What was the story? I did not watch. He will continue to no longer matter until he can putt in majors.
Pretty remarkable display of golf, by the worlds #1...
The average score yesterday was 71...
And while Tigers putting was awesome, his ball-striking was absolutely fantastic...wow...
Watching the replay at the local watering hole last eve and someone mentioned that Jack, Arnie, Watson and a few other greats never shot 61 in competition...pretty remarkable, and the course ain't some cake-walk muni...
Be interesting to see how the weekend plays out and if he can continue the ball striking next week.
As always, GO TIGER

Yep.And lovers are gonna love.
Glad I'm not in that camp.tiger knew right from the start of his backswing that he wasn't going to
complete it.But you guys think this is some super human feat.Insane.Wow.How does he do it?
Man has he got you hoodwinked.
pjfan13--you type some interesting notes on men who are true golf gentlemen.
Ken Venturi,Jim Langley. These two epitomize the true sportsmanship of golf. And rightly so.
They have earned it through their respect, conduct and appreciation of the game.
And yet,you love the complete antithesis of these two men you honoured.
You idolize a guy so devoid of character, honesty and humility.
Interesting.What's the word for it?
Hipocrisy comes to mind.

that was an ugly 4...but that putt was amazing
Very ugly. 22 putts today
