I'll never understand the constant "Tiger is back!" and "Tiger is done!!" statements. Obviously the guy is struggling right now, but 2 years ago he won 5 tournaments and was player of the year. Clearly he will never be as dominant as he once was, but he definitely isn't "finished".

Bingo. For some reason the golf world can't take him for what he is. A top 2 golfer to ever play the game who is struggling due to a variety of reasons that seem to be both mental and physical. People play this game for a very long time. He will never be the best player in the world again but he surely isn't finished

I love how he's back when he puts together 9 holes

Hopefully he plays well over the weekend, but like Rob said...this course isn't a major test

indifference and cliffy - I'm not a moron...I never figured a guy that good could forget everything he ever knew....I just HOPE he's done because I don't like the guy....I also hope he never wins another major...I doubt he will.

I heard a funny thing...."everybody wanted to swing like tiger....except tiger"

I don't think it matters that it's an easy course. If anything that's a confidence booster. And if this were a month ago and people were throwing up 63's, I'd bet Tiger would be putting up 68 and 69's.

    Progress.

I agree. My post was combining the two things we were talking about. If he plays well this weekend all we'll hear on tv is "he's back" or "is he back"

It better be a confidence booster, but he needs to put a number up on a tougher course. But knowing this huge ego nut, he'll go 63 / 65 this weekend and change his swing.

    Good point.

Guess I'd rather hear them say "he's back" instead of "he's done."

What's the deal with the Bridgestone? Does he have to win this weekend to even play there?

I agree w/ the 2nd line. I'd like him to win another major to get back it the conversation with Jack. I just think the competition is too tough though now.

    Not sure about Bridgestone

Let's see how he does today with his name near the top. Will a little pressure bring out the swing flaws?

Oh we all know how you feel about him! Cliffy summed it up perfectly by saying that people just can't accept him for what he is at this point in his career.

Played a very solid round today in a tournament. Modified scramble so played the best ball off the tee and then everyone played their own ball. Shot an 85 and hit and putted everything well.

Hats off to David Hearn on his performance at the Canadian Open. He hung in there with some great players, but he just couldn't sink any putts, though his playing partner Bubba couldn't believe they weren't dropping.
Hats off to Jason Day, great player and he showed it on those final four holes. Glen Abbey is great for an exciting finish.
I wish this tournament was still in September and not right after the British Open. But it is our Open and Canadian golf looks like it is bright with Hearn, DaLaet, Hadwin and Svensson.
Grandpa and I were glued to the final round, and our hearts sank a little as Hearn's approach on 18 found the left green side bunker when he needed an eagle to force a playoff.

Great clutch birdie putt by Day on 18 to force the issue after his tee shot found the fairway bunker and he had to lay up. Birdied the final four to win by a stroke.

Drives on 17 - Day 387 yards, Watson 386. Right down the middle. WOW

I'm so happy the Canadian winless streak continues.
    Classy. With a K

Got VIP tickets to the Champions Tour stop here in Calgary on Sunday.
Fred Couples, Monty, Jimenez, Ames, O'Meara, the Walrus, many others! Going to be a blast. We don't get many PGA-like events around here.
Pretty excited, should be a lot of fun to drink beer and rub elbows with these guys

Canada has to defend that gold medal from 1904

Hearn or DaLaet are going to bring home that gold medal in the "exhibition"

He answered the question. Olympics don't matter to him. You think he is alone? I don't watch them or the Winter Olympics. Such a racket, the IOC. Has ruined the Olympics for me the way FIFA ruined the World Cup

Really? To me it is just an exhibition or just a way for the Olympics to add recognisable faces. It's a good marketing tool.

There are probably 10 tournaments on the PGA calendar that any golfer would probably prefer to win over the Olympic gold. It's just like tennis. The 4 majors are miles above winning Olympic gold.

Is it as much of a joke as allowing NBA players? No.
Will I watch it? Yes, but my stomach won't be turning if one of my guys has an 8 footer for birdie. But it will be a good bit of fun.

Old course or karakung or whatever it is?

Played the old course in the spring and it was in surprisingly good shape. Am sure the drought destroyed it though

I think it's pretty cool it is going to be in the Olympics and it's for essentially the same reason the walker, Ryder and presidents cups are so popular. The schedule next summer is going to be all kinds of fun and I think people like Scott are babies for whining about it.

Remember how big of a deal it was with Rory deciding who he was going to play for? Rooting for your country in golf is always a blast to me.

Not saying it is the same thing as winning the masters but there is a big difference between saying it isn't on the level of the masters and skipping it all together
