I'm so happy to hear this worked out for Jenn. The story on the front page is gutting. That Pearl Jam recognized it and obliged your request shows how much they care for their fans.
I hope Jenn is doing better. I'm sending good thoughts her way for a speedy recovery.

I am so pleased to hear that the band played Jenn's "Smile" for her last night. This band never disappoints and I love that they react when really needed. And this one was really needed for this story and Jenn's path can happen to any one of us. She was just going about her life when suddenly she gets hit with a potentially deadly situation. I am thankful to Jenn and her friend for the reminder to live each day to its fullest. I hope Jenn makes a speedy recovery and one day is able to see Pearl Jam live again soon. But I will certainly settle for her being given another chance to hug her family and friends. Love to all involved in helping Jenn during her darker times. Peace!
I was at the show last night and heard Eddie dedicate Smile to Jenn, so I looked up her story this morning. My thoughts and prayers go out to her for a speedy recovery. My brother battled meningitis back in Aug/Sept and I know it can be tough. Its awesome they dedicated Smile to her, it shows how great PJ can be to their fans. I'm guessing that will make her day during a tough time. All the best to Jenn... I bet you can't wait to hear the boot!
WOW! I am absolutely FLOORED the band did this for my friend Jenn! I just want to send a HUGE thank you to Eddie, Mike, Stone, Jeff, Matt and BOOM for dedicating "Smile" to her... you guys are truely a class act! Also, I would like to thank Ten Club Management and Staff for all your help on this one! You guys really are the best and treat us so good year round! Fellow Ten Clubbers, thank you for the bottom of my heart for helping me in this quest of getting the band to dedicate "Smile" to Jenn! None of this would have been possible if not for your help! We truely are like one big FAMILY!
This will also serve as my show review(in reviews I'll just put see my post here)... this was my 18th show and a very emotional one because my dear friend wasn't able to celebrate it with us! After I put the request in for the band to play "Smile" for Jenn I hoped and prayed it would come through and low and behold it did! Miracles DO happen!
Some highlights for me were :
Release- for me tonight was very emotional! I hadn't heard it since Boston '06... needless to say when they played it I was in tears!
Small Town- Eddie started naming town and he named "Medford". My girlfriend's parent currently live in Medford. I am also moving there August 1... so that was great!
It was my first time hearing Rival, Push Me, Pull Me and Soldier of Love live! I thought it was awesome the boys played "Soldier" instead of "Last Kiss' for the back of the house!
Crown of Thorns was a great treat... props to Erik aka "UR CRAZY BREED" for getting that played... I hope your Mom had fun at the show! Next Boston show we are partying!
"Smile"- Again I can't believe this was played for my friend! Clearly the stand out highlight for me at this show! After they played it, Jenn called me from her hospital bed! (One of my friends was at the show and text her "I think they just dedicated a song to you!") She started crying.... I just said "Suprise"! She said thank you and that was the nicest thing anyone could have ever done for her! I just think of it as a good deed for a dear friend!
Again, Pearl Jam never ceases to AMAZE me! I dare you to find me a band that is more passionate about their causes and fans! You can't because these guys are the tops! Again thank y ou to everyone involved that made this possible I really appreciate and am thankful! You guys all rock... Peace Love and Pearl Jam!
Cheers,
Jim
P.S. To all those going to future shows this year, you're in for a real treat they are fire! Enjoy yourselves and be safe!

Still Smiling for Jenn!! Last night was so incredible and knew immediately when Eddie started talking about playing a song for a Friend it was going to be SMILE. Literally brought me to tears, it was so touching.

Best wishes. No other band or fanbase like this, you hate for unfortunate events to bring it out. All the best to Jenn and her family. (we don't even know her and we care...talk about a family).
Ten Club is seriously the best thing I have ever been a part of thanks for all the love and well wishes for Jenn guys like I said I'll be working on a scrap book for Jenn in the next few days! Gonna put all these well wishes in it another with pictures and stuff! "It can't be said enough, all you need is love"
I am so happy for Jenn that they played Smile for her. It was touching for all of us who were there and had read this thread before hand-so glad it worked out. Hopefully she'll be back at a PJ show in the near future!
How wonderful for her to have such a loving friend and how kind of the band to respond. Reading this has given me the warm and fuzzies I hope Jenn recovers quickly from a very frightening sounding illness and suffers no lasting effects. I'm sure knowing that her favourite song was played and having an amazing friend to stand by her will go a long way to making that happen. All the best to her.
