***My friend Jenn's story and a request***

Hey everyone. My friend Jenn is a HUGE Pearl Jam fan! She is a 10c member but doesn't post on here... Jenn took me to my first show 9/28/04 and I've known her for 16 years! All we do is talk about setlists and bootlegs.... she's one of my only friends that "get's it"! She had 10c tickets to Boston (it was her first time trying for them/scoring them she was psyched as many of you can imagine...) I miss out on the 10c sale due to having no money the time they went on sale, so I had to go the TM route for this show! We were talking late Wednesday night/ early Thursday morning and she mentioned how excited she was for the show and how she was gonna rock the hell out!

Thursday morning I get a call from her sister telling me Jenn was having a hard time waking up and wasn't responding. She was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Boston... she doesn't drink or do drugs. She is only 33! After hearing this I was beside myself with sadness and fear for my friend! I got an update from Jenn's sister on Thursday night that she was sedated and on a ventilator in intensive care... her sister said the doctor's said she is very ill and they were gonna run tests. (I didn't want to text or call her sister for updates... as I knew she had a lot of stuff to worry about... I thanked her and told her I was praying for Jenn!)

Fast forward to Friday night. I get a text message from Jenn's sister saying the doc's are still running tests and stuff and things are basically the same way they were... I thanked her and continued to hope and pray.

Saturday comes, the weekend is going by.... about 10pm I get a text from my friend Jenn (I almost fell over!!!) she said she's still in the ICU and can't have visitors. She told me she is sneaking texts to me as your not supposed to have your phone! She goes on to tell me how the doctors told her she needed to stay in the hospital... Pearl Jam is such a BIG part of her life and she told me she was in tears at the tought of missing the show! (I told her it was for the best and she knows that... it's just a sucky feeling!) She tells me she doesn't know how long she's going to be in the ICU but the doctors told her Menengitis was leaking into her brain which caused her system to shut down. Surgery is being scheduled when she gets out of intensive care!

I'm happy they know what's wrong with her! As I sit here and continue to hope and pray for her speedy recovery, I was thinking of something I could do to brighten her day and make her feel beter! I figured I would post on here and ask you guys to send positive vibes and well wishes! I'm going to take all the pages from this thread, print them out and make her a book! Maybe fill it with pics of the band etc....


The request part of this thread (I'm going to the show tomorrow night), is I was hoping if PJ management or the "higher ups" were reading this could you please pass along a message to Ed and the guys to fit "SMILE" in tomorrow night at the Boston show for my dear friend! It is her favorite song and hearing it there I would sing my heart out! (It's going to be an emotional show for me...it's #18 and even though I wasn't sitting with Jenn in the 10c seats she will definately be on my mind as we've gone to a lot of shows together over the years!) I intend on getting Jenn the boot of this show when it comes out!

You cannot put a price on life....her 10c tickets going to waste etc... none of that matters! ALL that matters in the end is health and happiness!! Sorry this thread is so long but I figured this is the least I can do for such an awesome friend! Thank you all for sending your kind words and responses! I know this will make my friend SMILE!

I'm going with a dear friend tonite, my best man and buddy for over 25 years (can't believe it's been that long). Music taste brought us together back then, and although we occasionally drift apart the music (PJ specifically) always calls us back together!! I've been pushing hard to hear Strangest Tribe, but if the band reads this, (and I'm sure they will ), I hope they play Smile instead for Jenn.........and you.
