    That 80s Show
  • My least favorite shows that i've been to are

    5/13/06
    5/30/06
6/19/08 < this one primarily because the show I saw before it was Bonnaroo, and the setlist's were almost identical.. plus my 10c tickets were in the back of the pavilion, all the way to the side.. the sound was AWFUL we actually moved to the lawn because the sound was better up there. thats how bad it was.
under your tongue, im like a tab.. i will give you what your not supposed to have

in wide open spaces we sing, with strings.. launch a full on musical cannonball.. guided by bells that we bring, they ring.. sound for the sky and the sun, our own waterfall...

one with the raging wind, alive on the highest tides, my ship at sail can climb a mountain.. ride it to the sky

06/13/07 – Stadion Slaski, Katowice, Poland
set: Rearviewmirror, Animal, Hail Hail, Corduroy, Given to Fly, World Wide Suicide, Elderly Woman…, I Am Mine, Lukin, Even Flow, Comatose, Nothingman, State of Love and Trust, Spin the Black Circle, Severed Hand
first encore: Leatherman, Improv, Daughter/(ABitWpII), Whipping, Black, Jeremy
    second encore: Indifference

Words cannot express how much this showed sucked. The crowd was an absolutel nightmare. PJ's equipment was late in arriving and they had all kinds of sound issues during the show. What made it worse was getting a copy of the intended setlist: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jmgphotos/ ... 500307698/

  • never had a bad show. Roo and ACL kinda spoiled me so Jazzfest was a step down, but it was still good.

all shows are good, but if i had to pick a worse maybe albany ny, the first time they played times union downtown, i think that was 2003? and maybe toronto night 1 i think when they played 2 nights in row in 2006 i believe. dont exactly remember, but those set were not that god if i remember albany had a strict curfew and it was one of the shortest pj shows in a long while
  • pearljamdude420pearljamdude420 Posts: 1,380
i cant say albany was a bad show though, cause they played ghost and all or none and that is fuckin awesome, but look at the set only 23 song
    http://www.pearljam.com/show/pepsi-arena-apr-29-2003
and toronto 06 maybe cause it was short show but they played sad and garden which was fuckin awesome
    http://www.pearljam.com/show/air-canada ... ay-09-2006

so there really is no bad show lol. my favorite sets ive seen probably are
    http://www.pearljam.com/show/pnc-bank-a ... ul-14-2003
    http://www.pearljam.com/show/bell-center-jun-29-2003
    http://www.pearljam.com/show/bryce-jord ... ay-03-2003
    http://www.pearljam.com/show/corel-centre-sep-16-2005
    http://www.pearljam.com/show/john-labat ... ep-12-2005
the best canadian shows ever in weird cities

i saw 30 shows none, maybe 12 or 13 on 2003 tour. those 4 fuckin shows were amazing sets

I gotta agree with 6/19/08 being a disappointment for the very same reason. Seeing Pearl Jam at Bonnaroo was something I was wanting for years until they finally played there, then seeing a show so similar in Camden that it marred the experience just a little. I have seen them 4 times in Camden (twice each in 03 and 08), but have vowed never to return to that crappy venue no matter how many more times Pearl Jam plays in that shit hole of a city. On a related note, it's odd that Radiohead has played there a few times when they are such sticklers for playing only in venues that actually sound good.

6/24/03 in Columbus, OH was a bit of a dud. It may have been partly due to my being tired from my journey the previous 1 1/2 weeks going to every show from Fargo to Columbus, with a Neil Young Greendale show In Chicago the night before Pearl Jam's show in the same venue.

9/19/05 Toronto, Ontario was also a bit disappointing. U2 were guests there that night and I think Pearl Jam wanted to show them they could fill a show full of radio hits too.

Christ almighty.after seeing the intended set for katowice for 2007 i am crying here. i went to that show as i am/was a huge fan of the amazing show in poland in 2000. i remember there were problems getting their gear over from germany from the night before and linkin park played for ages. but seeing that set list, oh man it would have been a classic show. i have seen them 8 times and that was so upsetting. hope the o2 in dublin next month will be classic. !!!

i wish i wish i wish i wish, i guess it never stops
  • Don't have much credit since i've only been to the philly shows since 2000 however my least favorite philly/camden show was due to my own stupidity. (6-20-2008) My brother and i decided to give the ferry a try for the first time instead of driving through shit hole camden and to avoid looking at all the strung out prostitutes and crack heads....ugh....we were drunk as hell and made are way to the ferry and took a nice 20 min ride across the delaware river just in time to hear pearl jam step on stage and the roar of the crowd going ape shit....we stagger to the line, get to the ticket dude ,prepare ourselves for another frisk and quite possibly balls being fondled by the over zealous security, I reach into my back pocket and....WAIT A MINUTE.....Nothing THERE ! ! ! I left our tickets in the glove box of my car back across the Delaware river ! FUCK ! ! I couldn't believe it and it still haunts me to this day....we walked back to the ferry port but it kept such fucked up hours that by the time we got back to my car to get the tickets the concert was mid-way through....i still have the unused tickets in my glove box....it was probably the saddest day in my adult life. nothing worse than hearing your favorite band playing while seeing your car out in the distance but you can't get to it....wow i actually feel a little better now ! i've been holding this in for damn near 2 years now. talk about self-help

You shoulda walked up to the box office and told them your problem. My buddy forgot his "print at home" tickets and they replaced his tix at Indy with just his name and cc #.

I agree with this. It was disappointing for a PJam gig. We travelled a long way for that show.
The crowd sucked too. Pretty rough.

  • The worst show I went to was at the Gorge in 93 when they opened for Neil Young. For one the crowd was a drunken mess and ended up pushing over the fence surrounding the GA and gold circle GA and causing a small LANDSLIDE! Second off this was about a week after PJ won a bunch of MTV video awards so Eddie was really pisssy and really drunk. He just looked surley all night. Not to mention I had to sit through Blind Melon and I am not a fan. Thank God I got to see them three more times at the Gorge to make up for this not so great show.

The criteria I'll use for this question will be my worst Pearl Jam concert experience. This is purely nit-picking... I've never had a truly awful PJ concert experience.

Lollapalooza '07 was not one of my favorites... somebody mentioned this early. I am so spoiled by Ten Club and the awesome seats that I get. Pearl Jam took the stage and put on a very, very solid show. But that was after standing outside for 3 mostly hot days amongst a bunch of sweaty, drunk humans. Give me an indoor arena show over the festival experience any time!

The more I think about this, the more I think it depends on my seating ;)St. Louis & Kansas City from 2000 don't stand out, but I didn't have Ten Club seats. The one time that I had great seats and left feeling disappointed was St. Paul Night 2 2006 when they opened for Petty. Mike had major guitar issues during "Marker in the Sand" which led to Eddie getting pissed which led to kind of a bad vibe. Then later on when Eddie came out to sing one of Petty's songs during his set, Ed's mic wasn't turned on. Just a rough night with technical problems.

    6-24-95...SF...Polo Fields ...

My first PJ show. My friends and I were all really pumped. Eddie gets sick...only does 7 songs. Uncle Neil comes out to save the day.....FAIL!!!! Pearl Jam was so huge then and we were so young we didn't care about Neil....we wanted to see Pearl Jam.

It got so bad that they had to play RITFW TWICE to keep the 50 thousand people at bay. Just a dissapointment overall. However... the makeup show at San Jose State in November was awesome.

Like this, my worst show was one i never got to go too! Pearl Jam have played Glasgow twice, the first time i was too young to go as it was an over 14's gig, the second time i had just turned 16 and was finally old enough to go! me and friends saved up and got tickets, had waited for this gig for what at the time felt like a lifetime!
We were waiting outside the venue in the queue so we could get upfront.
My friend had the tickets in his hand, when two guys ran by and stole our tickets! right from his hand!! by the time we got found him he was inside and we were left outside. :(
I found out later that the guy was one of my boyfriend at the times mates, complete arsehole. I had to wait 8 years to see them again in London.
  • For me, personally, it was Summerfest in '06 opening for Tom Petty.

Obviously, they were opening, so the set was shorter...not in Pearl Jam's control, I know.

Also not in their control was a power outage at the grounds, so everything was delayed. I got into a really dumb argument with my fiancee right before the show and it carried over. She then left with a friend to go buy a beer midway through the set, leaving me alone with her friend's date, who was a total tool (I can say that now, since they broke up shortly thereafter). Plus, my fiancee's friend got sick toward the end of the set and we ultimately had to leave right after Tom Petty took the stage.

To top that off, it was not a banner night for Pearl Jam either as someone (mother?) in Boom's family had died and he would actually not appear with the band the next night. Also, I think Sleater-Kinney had just broken up, so Eddie wasn't in his best spirits. It was just sort of a downer of a show. I have the boot and the next night, despite still opening for Tom, they just sound so much more into it.

I just remember all of those things combining to make it a pretty forgettable night. The other shows I've been to have more than made up for 1,000 times over though.

Nah...I liked Neil's music just fine back then...but when you've waited for months and spent your money to see the biggest band (at the time) on the planet ....you want to see them and the songs you love so much.

I happen to like Neil Youngs music even more now but I would still be dissapointed if this were to happen today. The problem wasn't that NY played with Pearl Jam...it was that Ed never came back and all we heard was 7 songs.

Hershey PA 03. PJ phoned it. Can't figure out why they were there. I think they must have owed someone a favor. Added at the end of a tour. It was 2 months after the legendary State College show, so I was spoiled alittle. Ed even yelled a at girl if I remember right. The setlist was good. But the show was uninspired
  • Knoxville wasnt the best. they seemed to want to be anywhere but there.

plus i had gotten really drunk the night before and lost a contact, so i was hungover and half blind.

still had a good time though, because it was a Pearl Jam show.
