    James,

That is awesome! I'm so happy for you and your dad. I work in trauma research and we have been doing a study for the past four years related to GVHD. Basically we found that a significant number of trauma patients, if they get a transfusion, will still have the transfused cells present years down the line. It's called microchimerism. Long story short we have enrolled close to 400 trauma patients and are drawing their blood post transfusion to see if transfused cells are present. Down the line we hope to figure out why the immune system is allowing these cells with different DNA to survive in the bloodstream which made lead to a better understanding of GVHD.

Anyway, I'm so glad your dad is doing better and have fun at the shows!

i just want to say that when ed gave the dedication last night, i was so PROUD to be a fan of this band.

it gave me such joy and pride. i was SO happy for ruggs and his dad. I cannot imagine a better feeling, Im so glad his plan worked out above and beyond his expectations. I wanted to, but didnt, cry. It was just so cool to be following this story and see it happen live over the past week. I really was thankful to be a fan, and I had to tell everyone around me what was going on. It was just so human, so real, so great to be a part of.

Thank you Pearl Jam. It was a great show, that may have been my highlight.

    Couple of things...

#1) How cool is it that the band actually does some of this?

#2) Let's hope it doesn't lead to 500 million request threads and water it all down.

Congrats to you and your dad, and a thank you to the band for just being so damn cool and nice about some things.

  • Ruggs,

I was in the 200s right above you @ MSGI when Ed did the dedication. It was awesome! How'd they know your seats?? There was a spotlight and everything.

absolutely amazing!! who got the letter on stage?

A guy named Chris (TightropeHigher on the board) threw his shoe up on stage in Buffalo and the letter was inside the shoe. Completely awesome chain of events...

Glad it all worked Ruggs! Props to the guys who threw the letter in the shoe to get it up there at a previous show. I knew he'd read it after that
