I don't know that they're dogging it, but they are losing. I say let 'em lose. Texas' fan base is about 80% bandwagoners right now, let them have more than just one season of people actually coming to the park (on account of going to the World Series last year) and then they deserve a title."See a broad to get dat booty yak 'em, leg 'er down, a smack 'em yak 'em!"0 -
Congrats to Pujols. The Babe and Mr. October are pretty big names to get up there with."See a broad to get dat booty yak 'em, leg 'er down, a smack 'em yak 'em!"0

It's not really the team itself as much as the bandwagoning fans around here. The only team that I really dislike the organization/players is the Cowboys. I like the Stars, though they aren't my favorite team. I love the Texas Brahmas, though I liked it better when they were the Ft. Worth Brahmas."See a broad to get dat booty yak 'em, leg 'er down, a smack 'em yak 'em!"0 -
As far as a "real" fan's perspective and not a so-called band-waggoner (born and raised here, been to Rangers games as long as I have been alive, etc., etc.), that was quite the display last night. Just an unbelievable display of power. I had faith the Rangers would come back, and they kept trying, but their pitching and defense betrayed them and then Pujols - well, just wow.
It seems to me the Rangers are about to unfortunately be the team that ran into the "team of destiny" two years in a row. A team that really shouldn't have gotten into the post-season and had a lot of help to do so. A team that most experts picked against in every post-season series but somehow magically pulls a rabbit out of their hats at the last minute.
The Cardinals feel like that team, just like the Giants last year.
I have hope because the Rangers dropped Game 1 at home against the Rays 9-0 and then won 3 straight. So if this is a 5 game series because of the 1-1 tie then maybe we can repeat that scenario. But the injury to Hamilton and the inconsistency from Holland and Wilson. I don't know. I don't have a good feeling about this anymore.Post edited by Flagg onDAL-7/5/98,10/17/00,6/9/03,11/15/13

No offense to you at all. You just seem pretty down on the area's fans a lot. I've lived here my whole life and I don't see the Rangers fans as band-waggoners. I am enjoying the attention they are getting.DAL-7/5/98,10/17/00,6/9/03,11/15/13

Don't get me wrong Flagg, I'm not calling you out. I know there are some true Rangers fans out there, but they are few and far between. I grew up going to Rangers games, and the Rangers were one of those teams where people mostly came to the park to see the other teams play. People came out for the Yankees, Red Sox, etc. Not the Rangers. People were more interested in the dot race than the Rangers. Then they made it to the World Series and you can't throw a rock without hitting a Rangers fan. This year they sold more tickets before opening day than they had sold by July or August (I forget which they said) last year. So people weren't coming out to the park last year, but when they hit the World Series then they decided to.Flagg wrote:No offense to you at all. You just seem pretty down on the area's fans a lot. I grew up here too, and I've been aware of it since I was little. And maybe it happens everywhere, but the fans around here really do hop on and off team bandwagons. The only team that has a constant fan-base is the Cowboys, although they can be shifty. Because when New Orleans won a few years ago EVERYBODY were Saints fans all of the sudden. Nobody were Mavericks fans when I was growing up, because they sucked. Everybody was Bulls, Lakers, or whoever fans. Same for the Rangers. I know 2 people who have always been Rangers fans, I don't know anybody who has always been a Mavericks fan. But everybody is now. I guess I put teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs and Green Bay Packers that have rabid fan bases, even when they blow, on a pedestal.
That's my opinion though. I just see it on the street, in the media, that the fans around here (in general, not you) lack loyalty."See a broad to get dat booty yak 'em, leg 'er down, a smack 'em yak 'em!"0 -

Gotcha. Its all good. I'm just a little testy this morning after that beat down last night.
I think the bandwagoning does happen everywhere though when a loser starts winning.
I will say this, I was fortunate enough to go to Game 4 of the World Series last year and the douchebag quotient was so high it rivaled Uptown on a Saturday night. But that has more to do with the Stub Hub and the cost of tickets than anything. I certainly can't drop $500 a ticket to take my family. But the douche can do it to impress his date.DAL-7/5/98,10/17/00,6/9/03,11/15/13

Looked like there was at least one last night. That dumbshit who threw the ball on the field and got ejected. I was kind of embarrassed. It's the World Series, people need to please act right and represent the city/area well.
