    is a .229 hitter worth $765M?
He’s now batting .244, 8 days after this post.
    Is .244 worth $765M?
I must be out of it, but who exactly are we talking about here? I'm guessing someone either on the Yankees or Dodgers though?

    Juan Soto.

Left the Yankees for the biggest contract in MLB history & the Mets.

He hasn't been anywhere near as good as he was last year or in the past. Been hitting better recently, but overall well below his usual output.

I was born in the Bronx. Soto can go kick rocks lol.
He hit .242 in 2022 with 27 homers so what you say is untrue. Yankees gave up a ton to get him after that season and tried desperately to sign him to a record deal, although ultimately failing to do so.
Bitter. Anyone saying they wouldn’t take him on their team is lying.

Soto is notorious for starting off slow.  Check his first half stats.

Aaron Judge.  Batting 396.  He might not get the triple crown if Cal Raleigh keeps hitting the way he is.

    Lol.

A quote a couple of days ago from tonight's Red Sox starter, Hunter Dobbins: “I’ve said it before, that if the Yankees were the last team to give me a contract, I’d retire.”

He just threw exactly one pitch to Judge, who sent it 436 feet to the right-center seats.
Meaning….he’d retire rather than play for Evil Empire East? Or something else?
Yeah he'd rather retire. His father is a diehard Sox fan. That's where his Yankee hatred comes from.
    I can respect that….but he’s lying.

jackie robinson retired when he got traded to the Giants, but it was the off season and he already had another gig lined up.

people would take him, but for most teams, that contract could end up being a very bad thing. Cohen can afford it, one way or another.

Soto may very well turn it around but my feeling is he was never worth that contract. If the thinking is, one WS would justify the signing, then so be it.

Soto is feeling pressure and not having fun right now.  He isn't performing up to his contract but like I mentioned before he starts slow.  2nd half he should be on fire.

Soto reached base 6 times yesterday. Metrics all point to him being unlucky over first 2 months when looking at his hard hit rate, barrel rate, etc.. He’s been doing the Soto shuffle over the past week. On pace for 30 homers 100 RBI and and OPS .820 Just based on his awful start. Best 765 million I watched someone else spend. Would buy again 10/10 times.

30 HR? big deal…my Giants had a guy do that a mere 21 years ago. 100 RBI? hell, it’s only been 13 years since “we’ve” done that. somehow, they won three rings tho.

I actually like the Mets. I would root for them against any of MLB’s usual suspects (except one and they’re not a usual suspect).

Got out to the Mets game last night. What a treat to see a complete game shutout. So rare nowadays. The energy at the ballpark was special. Place was jam packed.

“first since 2019” is crazy. Marichal used to throw 30 a year. In fact, Juan has more CG’s than W’s.

Exactly we were talking about afterwards same with Seaver he had a lot of complete games! I thought for sure once he gave up two hits in the 8th he was done for the night so to see him come out for the 9th was a big surprise

That’s nuts that you were there too! What a small world. It’s been an incredibly fun season to watch. Team feels special and the place has been packed.

231 for Seaver; 244 for Marichal. Now, as Verlander says, it’s usually “five and fly.”

Man, that's nothing: Cy Young had 749 CG's=LOL

It sucks that a CG nowadays are so rare. Watching a half dozen pitchers pitch for each team in a 2-1 game doesn't do it for me.

You guys ever hear of Warren Spahn? 382 CG's.

The winningest Lefthander ever and to me, most underrated.

I wonder what percentage of his 363 W’s were CG’s. Gotta be damn near all.
