Ugh...First, there is no such thing as the first annual, it is the inaugural award. Second, ugh. This sounds like something George Costanza would do..

Really looking forward to seeing all the young talent in the minors develop. Most exciting aspect of the game for me. Nice to see some of the crappier franchises poised to make an impact in the near future.

Yeah, a decent amount of Astros, Twins, and Cubs. I would hope they had some nice prospects after getting top draft picks for a while! They say Buxton draws similarities to Trout and Sano has insane power (but strikes out). Both should be in Minnesota next year at the latest.

Can't say I blame him for mentioning he wants an extension/new contract, he had a great season last year. He does this routine every couple of years. I would be shocked if he ever left Boston.

I refuse to believe that these trout rumors are real until it happens. There is no way the angels can be this dumb, right? I mean you pay him that much and only get two TWO free agent years out of it. under best case scenario, Trout makes around $60 million in arbitration, so that means you are paying him $90 million, I repeat, $90 million for free agent years and you only get two of them.

    My mind is blown

Don't get me wrong. Trout is worth every dollar of that contract but there is absolutely ZERO reason to give him that money and only get two free agent years.

agree they fucked this up. too many decisions to be made by the umpire here. either make it all the way legal or all the way illegal. why complicate it this much?

They should just make it like my kid's league, slide or veer and no blocking the plate.

worse than mccarver? I don't like buck or verducci but I'm not sure they can be worse than "when I played" Tim.

Verducci has the personality of a fish. he will add nothing. Reynolds might be ok as long as he isn't sexually harassing anyone.

This new tracking system mlb is putting in place sounds pretty awesome. You'll be able to track basically everything that happens on the field. And it seems like we'll finally be able to put solid numbers on defense. Pretty cool stuff

Nerd alert - I read that it's going to produce something like 4 terabytes of data for each game. That's a whole lot - probably gonna cost a shit load in maintaining all that.

But, yes, this does sound pretty awesome.
