does anyone want these last playoff spots? jeez...

Right? Every team that has to win are playing teams that are already in or have nothing to play for and they can't win (except Tampa I guess). Really?

I wonder if the Yankees will just throw these last couple of games.

  • Hopefully we get 2 tiebreaker games on Thurday. :D

At least that would screw up the Cardinals' rotation a little bit. Of course, Jaime Garcia wasn't anything special yesterday, but he always dominates the Phillies. The Braves are already screwed, even if they get the Wild Card.

I had no idea that you could "trade" managers, if that is indeed what happened.

it wasn't technically a trade..at least according to the white sox press release
The Chicago White Sox have agreed to Ozzie Guillen's request to be released from his contract, allowing the manager to pursue other opportunities.

"We certainly cannot thank Ozzie enough for all he has done during his eight seasons as manager of the Chicago White Sox, highlighted by an unforgettable 2005 World Series championship," said Jerry Reinsdorf, White Sox chairman. "I personally appreciate everything he has done for this organization, our fans and the city of Chicago. We shared the greatest moments together and wish him nothing but future success in baseball and in life."

Guillen, who led the White Sox to a 78-82 mark in 2011 and a 678-617 record during his eight seasons (2004-11) as manager, will not be in uniform with the White Sox for the remaining two games of the 2011 season.

The White Sox retain rights to compensation should Guillen accept a managerial position with another major league team in 2012.

Right, I read about this today. Managers can't be traded since they aren't under a CBA like the players. Essentially they made a deal that they will release him and be compensated when he signs with another team. Bascially a trade but not exactly a trade. Pretty much what the press release says.

My parents waited online for 3 hours on Saturday to get 4 tickets to ACLS game 2. Just got a call from my father yesterday saying that he was picked for 4 World Series tickets too. Here's hoping they make it...and WIN this year :) I can't believe I haven't been able to go watch a single game in Arlington this year, Alpine Valley drained my summer travel funds...

Question, this would obviously have to be done through waivers, would Tampa have any way to block it?
