Damm Oakland is looking tough. of course, you now have to worry a bit about where they are going to get some runs scored from

Lackey to the Cards for Kelly and Craig. Don't know what to make of that haul.

Boston is already remaking their team for next year. Find it interesting these aren't really prospect deals.

One thing about this regime in Boston has been a quick turnaround after down years. The injury plagued disaster in 2006 led to a World Series in 2007. The Billy Valentine misstep in 2012 led to the World Series in 2013. Not sure they have the magic for that again but I'm sure it has entered into the thinking.

No doubt. It is a really interesting philosophy. As a Yankees fan, I would always like to see Boston have rebuilding years, but I think I am fine with his approach. The middle of the order of Craig, Ortiz and Cespedes is pretty scary, but I think I prefer that to stud prospect who they could have for 5+ years.

I don't mind the move. I think Kelly has maxed out. Kinduva freak athlete, but never gonna be an elite pitcher.

Craig needs a change of scenery and Tavares need to be tested and given a real chance.

STL still going for it this year, without mortgaging the future. They may not be done either. Wonder if they're saving those young pieces for a bat.

They need an offensive spark to run away with the division. They haven't played worth a damn all year and they're still right there in the hunt.

Add in Kelly going from the NL to the AL and Lackey to the NL.

For those of us who didnt grow up in Philly area we still had a strong connection to Harry Kalas --- as the voice of NFL Films he was so much a part of everything that we loved about football and the shameless glorification of it that the Sabols gave everyone.

Now living in Philly I can appreciate the history of his Phillies work and have stood by his statue many times!
The love he receives is the love that is saved

we got a new puppy about 3 months ago.....my reading and relaxing time became pretty non-existent.....now, I'm catching up on old sports illustradeds....pretty funny how SI jumped on the rockie's fast start.....they are now firmly in dead last.

As Denny Green said....they are who we thought they were :)), what a clueless franchise. how the hell did they ever stumble into a WS?

detroit had plenty of pitching. I wouldn't have traded my starting CF if I had aspirations of winning it all. Rajai Davis stinks. They might have upgraded their rotation, but that wasn't an area of need. They weakened their defense and lineup.

Davis didn't play. Gotta figure he will get the majority of PT in CF come playoff time. Big downgrade at a key position.

I don't like the trade for the tigers. We will see how it plays out

They only scored one run in a loss. I think there's plenty more where that came from
