I hate that man, but bad Boston press is something I enjoy very much.
C'mon curt give us some names :corn:
There are two pretty big names that are no longer there that we're big parts of the organization then. That would be awesome.
One of their names happens to rhyme with Cleo.

Hot damn Seattle. Guess the Yanks aren't getting the prime years of Felix. :(
not worth the money
You say that every time someone is signed. If a 26 year old pitcher who has steadily been one of the best in baseball for 5 years or so isn't worth it, then no player is.

and he'll never pitch a meaningful game.

he's signed through 2019- once he hits 30, there's a big chance that he will decline. His new contract will take effect this season and pay him a record average annual salary of $25 million through 2019 and that's a lot for a pitcher that logs 200 innings almost every year.

But the contract only goes through his age 34 season. Dude could get another big contract after this one, which would probably be a mistake. You can argue he has logged a lot of innings, but the great ones always throw a lot of innings. If you are going to give a big contract to a pitcher, this seems like the best case scenario as you are locking up a player entering his prime and not coming out of his prime.
Eh, just because players have gotten hurt doesn't mean he will. You gotta keep him if you are the Mariners. And as long is he doesn't get shoulder problems, even if you lose him for a year to TJ, no big deal. All baseball contracts are a gamble and I'd put my money on Felix over just about any other pitcher in the game.

Your Blue Jays just went nuts with salaries.
i wouldn't say every time ... ... i just don't think he's the best pitcher in baseball and therefore shouldn't be paid that way ... i also think safeco field is a pitchers ballpark and am guessing his away stats aren't nearly as good as his home stats ...
as for the jays ... we got dickey for an average of $10 million a year ... most recent cy young winner ... that's a whole lot less than what felix will make the next 3 years ... despite all our moves ... our payroll will still be around 10th in the league ... not crazy ...
And just like that, there could be some elbow issues with Felix.
Enjoy that contract M's. I'm laughing at the M's, not Felix's elbow issues.

he's only 26, might be one of the greats of our lifetime
For sure. He should just be entering his prime.

We'll see. They have shown this offseason that they are willing to spend. A lot relies on the kids they have.

You are declaring yourself right about something that hasn't happened yet?
Sounds like the Mariners may have gotten some injury clauses.
