kasten was with the braves?? what's his title? prez?

guess I'm just wondering who's to blame if "the grand experiment" doesn't work out

yeah stan is head of baseball operations and ned is gm

i don't stan, ned or anyone else in the organization is saying the big trade won't come back to bite em in the ass...but i think the owners said fuck it, we need to make the dodgers a player in la sports again...and get people to come back to the games...imo the trade wasn't just about getting players

now, who has a pitcher or two they want to let us have :fp: :corn:

I never understood this philosophy. spending money just to prove to your fans that you will spend money. isn't it smarter to spend wisely? after all, winning is what brings fans to games, not spending money. just ask ruben amaro

if it becomes a pattern then i'll be concerned...with a potential $8.5 billion tv deal in the future and the new owners having billions of dollars of their own i don't think the trade was all that bad

and you have to understand the la sport fan...you're only gonna get crowds if you put a winner on the field (not saying this trade makes a winner)...there's just so much more to do here than go to watch a losing team

or as lane kiffin said yesterday

"L.A.’s a town that isn’t real fired up about winning games, 14-10, and showing up," Kiffin said Wednesday. "It is what it is. You’ve got a lot to compete with."
"There is a Showtime element," Kiffin said. "There is a style factor to it.

certain cities definitely have better fan bases than others, but in general all cities are fairweather to a certain extent. If the team sucks no one is going to the games.

not sure if the dodgers plan will work or not, but they could be stuck with a lot of dead money from those deals. If those owners are willing to spend as much as they have talked about (ie, past the luxury tax threshold), then it's not that big a deal.

    will be interesting for sure.

their pitching still blows, so I think they are gonna have a tough time making playoffs over teams like STL and Pitt
