Thank you Twins for handling the Angels. Too bad we fucking blew that lead Wednesday night to the Mariners.

I went the game. First one for me this year. Perfect weather in Texas right now. It was 68 and breezy. I LOVE the Rangers Ballpark.

Glad to have the Jays back again tonight. I may even head down to the game since it's free hot dog day. Hopefully Bautista used his day off to clear his head and get back on track.

Interesting article on the large contracts considering the ages of certain players:

ATLANTA — Chipper Jones is back in the lineup, the team actually has a winning streak, and now it’s time to go home.

Yep, things are looking up for the Atlanta Braves.

A week into a season that began with four straight losses, the Braves are slated for their home debut on Friday at Turner Field when they take on the Milwaukee Brewers."

That was a great gesture on behalf of the Giants organization. It was executed well, and the kid made a good first pitch.

So good to hear Vin Scully back in the booth. Dodgers just had a triple play against the Padres.

Seeing how there are only 6 teams in the NL with winning records, including the Dodgers, who knows. :)

The A's have finally gotten fed up with MLB dragging their feet on their proposed move to San Jose and are putting a request for a vote on the matter on the agenda for the owners' meeting in May. Given the fact that the A's have a horrible stadium situation you'd think MLB would have moved a little faster rather than taking 3 years to "research" the situation and still not have an answer for them.

Yeah. They aren't going to make much money from ticket sales this year so they have to give their fans something to buy. Their fans seem to love the cartoon bird. I guess it makes sense if you consider that kids might find it hard to root for a team that loses every year but they'll love the cartoon bird and grow into fans that way. The adults there seem to like the cartoon logo, too. I guess it reminds them of the Ripken days when they actually made the playoffs and went to the World Series. My only hope for the throwback trend is that we don't see teams going back to the 1980s pullover-style jerseys.

I've never been a big Bud Selig fan, but his comments about the A's San Jose situation really reek of incompetence. I've got to assume that he either gets along with the Giants' owner really well or he really hates the A's owner or is terrified to make an actual hard decision. It could be a combination of all 3 since he genearlly only acts when he is forced to or knows that there can't be any sort of pushback (see the steroids era and the sale and league switch of the Astros and the way he let the Expos' failed owner buy the Marlins so their owner could buy the Red Sox).

Here's what Bud had to say:
“I’m always hopeful when there are debates amongst clubs, I try to lead teams in a direction of solving their problems themselves,” Selig said. “However, this group has an interesting comment whenever they get in trouble: ‘That’s why you’re here, Commissioner.’ That’s what they tell me. I don’t know that that’s a particularly good answer …
    http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.c ... 1O5S4T.DTL

Keep in mind that they A's have been waiting for MLB to finish their study of the situation for 3 years without any results. Now Selig is basically saying it's not his job to resolve disputes between clubs depsite doing exactly that in a dispute over compensation for a General Manager just a few months ago.

I think Bud's offseason to-do list looked a little something like this:

    1. Dodgers bankruptcy
    2. Force the Astros to move to the AL
    3. Boston/Cubs compensation for Epstein
    4. Mets-Madoff case
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
1,074. A's move to San Jose
