I feel Ed's voice has changed for the better. His emotion is now from a lifetime of experiences and you can hear this in his voice. The loves, the losses. A true pleasure and gratefulness. I guess you could say a reconciliation with life. It's a voice that has been with me for 20 years, its like a friend. A friend may change a bit over the years but they are still your friend, a seasoned friend and most would say that is even better.

All around me last night, fans were singing like crazy. He let us do the "do do do" part in Black, before joining in, but that may have been him WANTING to let us sing tho.

I think '03-'06 were really bad years for EV!

The voice was more or less shot IMO. He does sound better now, but he's not nor will ever be the same...and that's ok.

Give up the smokes and know your limits Ed, and you can go forever!!

Anyone who thinks his voice hasn't deteriorated is fooling themselves. And, no, it's really not about age. He just doens't take good enough care of his most valuable assest. Cornell's voice was shot, but then he got his shit together, quit smoking and began vocal training and listen to him now. It's amazing.

Or take Mark Lanegan who despite the very hard years is sounding better and better. And since he quit smoking (which I do believe if someone like Lanegan can do anyone can) his voice has become a lot clearer and smoother.

I think Ed needs to consider how Roger Daltrey managed to keep his voice strong into his 60s. At this rate, there's no way Ed is gonna match that.

I just went and took the Chris Cornell challenge. I realize there is personal taste involved here but his voice has no where near the power or uniqueness of Eddie's. Cornell's voice sounds like every other lead singers, not like Eddie who was very special then and still is to this day.
Perhaps some listeners don't have that emotional connection that draws them into a song, keeps them there and really doesn't allow for the criticism of a voice because that voice is the song. For me there will always be "nothin like his baritone" and when I hear his voice I know "he has touched my heart in thin air". Its a voice I know as well as all those I love in my life and as the years go by it just keeps getting more special to me.
