"It's your move now...
I thought you were a friend, but I guess I, I guess I hate you..."

Unbelievably, up until five minutes ago I never knew that was what Eddie muttered at the end of "Corduroy." I also didn't know that the line goes "Everything has chains / Absolutely nothing's changed" until quite a few years after the song was released.

Completely changes the song for me.

I didn't know that's what was said in Corduroy.

    My friend thought Faithfull said:
Voice inside so drowned out, drowned you are, you are, you are a free thing

He mentioned he didn't know why it actually said "furry thing", as "free" made more sense to him.

i think the COrduroy thing is more clear on RVM than Vitalogy, or maybe im thinking of another song.

I thought I knew most of the lyrics pretty well and recently I've discovered that I've had lines in songs that I've always sung along to but just didn't ever know until I looked them up. God only knows what comes out when I sing along. My daughter sings Parachutes, "Why deny, all the troubles when combined with a missing leg." I don't let on though.

Back when Footloose was a big song a kid in grade school thought it was "Everybody cut Fruitloops"...

  • Actually on faithfull, I don't believe that it says "furry thing". I think that Eddie just drags out the word everything. As in "ev-err-y thing.

That's what I hear, though I intially also thought it was furry

Footsteps is about the psychology of a serial killer. I think the lyrics are "pictures on my test", referring to the Rorschach inkblot test. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rorschach_test)

My girlfriend insists that Ed says "It's not chewy" over and over on Habit...I think he's really saying "It's not your way" but she has a theory about a love/hate relationship with a granola bar.

It's only the last time when he says "inner sense", otherwise it is "innocence"
I think Ed likes toying with exactly this sort of stuff

For example... lyric sheet for Not For You:

    This snot for you

    00: Dublin
    06: London, Dublin

And I thought it was "pictures on my chest", as in family pictures on his chest of drawers. Giving more meaning to the lyric "It was you", as in it was you in the picture - a family member that caused me all this pain.
