Vinyl fans- which MMJ albums should I get as a new fan?
What's your favorite? Are the reissues any good or do I need to get the originals?
Assume I know nothing and am a total newbie. I got okonokos because I've always loved that album and have had it in cd for a few years, but I have nothing else of MMJ.
Where do I start?!I'm like an opening band for your mom.0 -
All good but I'd say to start.
Circuital
Z
It still moves
Most user friendly then get into Waterfall At Dawn Tennesee Fire.
I have a RSD of show they did at a record store in their hometown.
Really good. Title is in Spanish I think
Celebracion de la ciudad natal
Listen to Red Rocks or there OBH bootsPost edited by RobbyD462 on-Seattle,Wash-Key Arena-9/21/9 -Vancouver,B.C-Rogers Arena-12/4/13 -Vancouver,BC-Rogers Arena-5/6/24

and pick up a few recordings from their "archive" series from NUGS.
My personal favorites are the 2012 shows from Port Chester, NY...
all 3 of the shows from Red Rocks (2 in 2011 & the most recent one from last August)
and the Philly '05 show.
IF you MUST have a studio album...It Still Moves is my favorite,
but NOTHING beats how these guys sound live!!'96: Seattle: Key Arena

I've read on the MMJ board that some of the reissues are questionable quality (It Still Moves I remember being mentioned specifically). So, I guess original pressings are the way to go.RoleModelsinBlood31 said:Vinyl fans- which MMJ albums should I get as a new fan?

Nice, right on. Thanks ya'll you guys are so bad for my vinyl spending disease. I picked up Z and it still moves and Tennessee fire because I had a few moments to spare today at work and when those happen I buy more shit. I'm sure they're all represses because they were really cheap on Amazon.
I saw the rsd one you are talking about too it's an ep 10" which is cool.
I'll get back on here and post how I feel about the vinyl reissues at some point but I appreciate it guys thanksI'm like an opening band for your mom.0 -

I was at two of those Port Chester shows, they were incredible. That's one of my favorite venues to catch a show, beautiful theater.derbydave said:

One of my good friends went to all 3 shows and he said they were projecting some pretty cool images on the walls and ceilings of the theater during the shows!!
I FINALLY got to see a My Morning Jacket show at Red Rocks in August and was so bummed to see they are going back for 2 nights on Memorial Day weekend this year!!
I can't make those shows because we always go to the Indy 500 for Memorial Day weekend.
It's been a tradition since 1985 and this year is the 100th Running of the race.
They are playing Indy the Thursday night before the race, so I'll at least get to see the warm-up show for Red Rocks this year!'96: Seattle: Key Arena
