I'm worried Matt might leave PJ.

If the all around "good feelings" around this Soundgarden summer reunion continue and turn into a full on band re-establishment (meaning new album and further touring)...Matt will have an interesting choice to make. I like MC in Pearl jam...and this would hurt the band in the short to medium run. Now...I'm sure Matt has assured the boys that this is for the short term...but we all know about the EX-FACTOR. He may indeed fall in love again with SG.

If so...good for him...but where would that leave the guys? I for one would be dissapointed. This is the longest tenured drummer of Pearl Jam's existence. Jack and or Dave A are not coming back. I'm sure Matt has true intentions to resume with Pearl Jam...but I'm starting to think Soundgarden might get seduced into reforming for the foreseeable future.

IMO...this would be a major bummer for the band...but they would support MC. BTW...Ben Shepherd is a complete weirdo and possible A-hole.

  • Pearl Jam has gone through so many drummers, i dont think getting another one would be a big deal.

and dont count out Jack coming back! a boy (me) can dream!

thats kind of a weird thing to say. who knows what he would do. it wouldnt be the strangest thing if he decided to stick with the band that he first got big with.

Yes...but why do you think the band is so supportive. They had to delay the announcement of their tour because of his SG tour arraignments.

It may happen but somehow I always felt Matt is more appreciated in PJ than in Soundgarden before. And they have broken up once, so it might happen again very soon. Why the hell would he leave PJ then?

True...although PJ rules more IMO. I love both bands...but... Pearl Jam is the more relevant/important and active band these days. Plus...it would be a damn shame.

They are both on the same level.

For Matt to leave PJ is a MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH less defisit than him not joining SG.

How can you say more active/relevant? Soundgarden havent been around for 13 years so of course they bloody are!! Plus if PJ broke up tomorrow i dont think it would send earthquakes around the world..

  • I think his drumming was alot more technical in soundgarden, hasn't so much been the case in PJ. He fits in well with the PJ boys and I'd be happy either way he decides really.

Since Yield PJ has gone downhill, so I expect Eddie going solo and Soundgarden returning in full with new album etc. For me Matt has always been Soundgarden's drummer.

There is no reason why Matt Cameron cannot drum for both of these bands. This is a silly conversation.

All these rumours about Eddie going solo and Pearl Jam broking up are just bullshits. Pearl Jam are going to rule at least for another 20 years. They will be the old wolves of rock n' roll like the rolling stones and many other less known bands. According to Wikipedia Jack Irons is a member of Spinnerette, Dave Abbruzesse is on the IMF tour (The IMF is the world's central organization for international monetary cooperation. It is an organization in which almost all countries in the world work together to promote the common good. The IMF's primary purpose is to ensure the stability of the international monetary system—the system of exchange rates and international payments that enables countries (and their citizens) to buy goods and services from each other. This is essential for sustainable economic growth and rising living standards.), that means that he maybe can lend a hand behind the drum kit again, Matt Chamberlain is a member of Critters Buggin and Dave Krusen is the only completely available. So I can see something like that again RKCDNY91.jpg or with a little difficulty something like this Dave+Abbruzzese+l_baed25fa9c15fdd23af6634b71d1.jpg. Of course I would like the idea of Matt continuing to be Pearl Jam's drummer but if the worst scenario comes to reality there are two options. This is my humble opinion.

In my opinion, the best thing that could happen right now is for Matt to join Soundgarden so PJ could get ANY of their previous drummers back - all of which provided more power in their drumming, as is necessary for Pearl Jam's music. Matt's sound, again, in my opinion, is much better tailored to meet Soundgarden's needs than those of Pearl Jam.

Matt knows where the bigger paycheck comes from, and he's been writing decent songs with PJ recently, so he's not going anywhere.

And if he is, Jimmy Motherfuckin' Chamberlain would be the drummer who can fuse Cameron & Abbruzzese's styles.

Yep. Almost as old as the "KC/STL/Columbus/wherever not sold out yet" threads.

Matt is going to do what is best for Matt and his family. And if that means a full blown SG reunion, and Pearl Jam wants to continue on, I am sure they will make some kind of arrangement or Pearl Jam will just move on and find a new drummer.

  • I Said it b4 in an earlier post.
When STP reunited there was so much hype but when I saw them At jones beach wasn't even sold out.
Same with AIC so much buzz but at jones beach which isn't that big it was empty.
Yes Sound garden is bigger name I am not buying into the hype. Cris Cornell was with Linkin Park at Project revolution and other then Black Hole sun no one really cared.

Point is other then festivals and small venues i cant see SG commanding large crowds of people and will flop with sales.

Not saying that they are bad but muisc has changed since the 90's.....but SG will peak at LOLLA and slowly fade away again.....you'll see.
Just my opinion......and Matt will stay with PJ.

Here is my take on Matt Cameron..

I can't see him leaving pearl jam to drum full time with Soundgarden...Here is my reasons...My own opinions..Chris Cornell's voice is pretty much shot...I seen him a couple years back on his solo tour...I thought his voice didn't sound all that great..Specially when he was singing the soundgarden tracks..I could be wrong on his voice..But, didn't sound good to me..

Plus, Matt is one of the best bands in the world..Why leave a great gig?..

If he did leave?...Would want Jack to come back..
