Game time is 1:05. I wonder what time we have to be there? Noon?
I don't know jack squat about the area or anything. But I know my hubby really wants to go. I feel like time is a-ticking and I don't have plans on Saturday night yet either.
I am horrible at planning but we do get in town on Friday. We could probably scope the area out and figure out a meeting place for Sunday and post information back here.
What does everyone/anyone think of that for baseball on Sunday?
If you guys are looking for a good place to meet before the game try the Gateway Plaza. Its the area between the Q and Jacobs Field, with these 2 towers and grass. seen here:
If you decide to meet inside the stadium, try the Batters Eye Bar, the bar inside the stadium in center field
Okay, that's starting to sound like a good idea.
So the stadiums are just right across from each other like that?
Could you tell us which way to walk from that location to get to the box offices?
So unless someone that's local chimes in and volunteers to set an official meeting place to help out us out of towners does that sound good?
Meet at the Gateway Plaza at Noon and we'll walk over to buy tickets as a group with whoever shows by 12:30?
I checked the indians website for info and the gates open at noon. I personally want to go DIRT CHEAP for tickets since I'm unemployed now so I was thinking bleachers would be good? It's $18 a ticket. And hell, at least at Wrigley field the bleachers are the funnest seats in the house. I tried punching in 8 tickets for that section and they had them available.
What do you guys think?
1. You won't have a problem getting Indians tickets. The city is so down on them right now that the Stadium is like a morgue. Also, since the Cavs are playing that day there probably won't be a big crowd. So you can sit wherever you want and get as many tickets as you like and it won't be a problem.
2. That Plaza separates the Q and Jacobs Field. You could throw a baseball from one and hit the other. That Plaza is located behind the big scoreboard.
3. the Bars on 4th street are located on the opposite side of the Q. If you google maps "East 4th Street" and "9th and Prospect" those are the areas people frequent before arena and Jacobs Field events. Just walk down Prospect and you will find something to eat or drink.
Cleveland is easy to get around. There really isn't much to do outside of drink and eat, so just about every place you walk by supports that.
Thanks for making the map. I'll probably hit the warehouse district Sat. night, pre party Sunday at Map Room, and squeeze in RRHOF sometime in between.
Is this all walking distance from Doubletree?
I am lost, I'm no guide, but I'm by your side

hi all,
i'm def going to try to find UFC 113 on Saturday night for sure...thanks for the suggestions of Corner Alley and Winking Lizard. Giving them a call now to see if they are airing them. feel free to join in!
edited to add: doesn't look like anywhere downtown is showing it. Champps on Valley View, which is about 10 min of downtown:

A couple points to mention about UFC 113...these are generally what's broadcast at the two larger gentleman's establishments in the downtown Cleveland area. Cover charge is usually around $8 and the beers are actually modestly prices (allegedly). There's also a limo bus for each that circles the downtown area that will provide you a ride there free (allegedly).
Valley View looks close to downtown by map, but it can be a little tricky to get too and Champps is pretty loud. Just something to consider if transportation is an issue.

I received a message from the guy that owns Jib Machine records about Saturday night karaoke (if we're still even considering that...I have no idea) but he said this,
"This is JT from Jib Machine Records. After reading your email, my recommendation for karaoke would be Becky's. It's a cool, little dive bar pretty much on the campus of Cleveland State University. Drinks are cheap and it's very close to the Q, Map Room, etc. Cleveland suburbs are pretty spread out so to avoid drinking and driving for those already staying downtown, Becky's would be the best call. Just my two cents!
Take care and looking fwd to meeting you on the 9th!!"
Do you guys want to even go this route? I can look into it more if you'd like.
one of the more trendy places to hang out in Downtown Cleveland these days is East 4th St. There you can find a great place called Lola's (owner is iron chef Michael Symon), Zocala's a good Mexican place, a good Italian restaurant called La Strada and other bar type restaurants
(email from my friend tom who lives in cleveland)
for those looking for the UFC, try Winking Lizard or the Corner Ally downtown. if not there, I'm sure there will be a place in the Warehouse District that will have it. I think there is a BW3s in the Flats too if all else should fail, though I'm not 100% sure it's still there since they are doing an overhaul on the flats
Id like to possibly hit it up between the Indians game and the Show.
