Would you like a stroke with that heart attack?

Last August, we wrote about the "Double Down," a mysteriously tempting (and potentialy lethal) new food item being tested by KFC. For those coming late to the story, it's bacon and cheese sandwiched between two pieces of fried chicken. And now, many months later, I'll finally be able to get my hands on one.

KFC announced the decision to go live with the Double Down yesterday, but we weren't sure they weren't playing a April Fools gag. But no, they truly are going nationwide with the delicacy on April 12.

The sandwich will be available in two forms. The Original Recipe sandwich will set you back about 540 calories, 32g of fat and 1380mg of sodium. The not-as-bad-for-you Grilled Double Down totals 460 calories, 23g of fat and 1430mg of sodium.

    While I will not be partaking in this.....540 calories seems on the low end of some fast food products out there. Just saying.

    When I read about it I was disgusted. When I saw it.. I got hungry. I want one... its not that much worse health wise than anything else fried there (or anywhere, really).

    Bring it.... the double down suicide-pact combo meal coming soon.

    That looks like it would go real well with some of the bottled Kristie Alley water. Bump from 540 calories to 1460 calories :lol:

    I also think that looks yucky but I was Mama to the rescue last week when daughter had car trouble and picked her up at a KFC near the car repair. She got something that did look and smell nummy and she said it was tasty. Its the new broasted chicken breast piece, no bun, I think 140 cal she said. Its just plain no breading just spice and comes in a little wrapper sleeve easy to eat on the go. So I think the fast food places are trying to give some light options.

    the double down looks so nasty. the longer you stare at and really think about it, the more it makes me sick.


    will not be trying one, as I have banned KFC from my dining habits many years ago. :lolno:
